10 Tips To Setting Powerful Intentions

set powerful intentions law of attraction

There can be several guidelines to be aware of, when you set powerful intentions. When applied cohesively, they can be extremely helpful in bringing your intents to fruition effectively.

how to be bold

You can set a powerful intention or a poor one. Based on my experiences with setting intentions, here is a summary of 10 tips I have picked up that I would like to share with you:

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #1: Make them Clear and Specific!

Be clear and specific. Know what you want, otherwise you send out conflicting intents.

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #2: Incorporate Visioning

Instead of just visualization, consider incorporating visioning. Don’t know the difference? Here are some quotes from The Vision Board Book, to help in your understanding:

“Visioning is a self-exploration process that involves a combination of “soul searching” and meditation, and even incorporates improvisation techniques.”

“Visioning differs dramatically from visualization. Visioning is a process where your soul reveals your heart’s desires, prompted by a circle of like-minded supporters who add their insights. Traditionally, visioning is a group exercise. Visualization is more often an individual technique where you picture a desired outcome or goal.”

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #3: Align Your Intention With Higher Purpose.

My experience has been that making intents for pure egoistical material fulfilment seldom works out meaningfully. I have noticed that where the purpose is for making money money alone, setting this intention also rarely ever works out for my clients too.  We would continue to be in a state of discontent, with mostly negative experiences.

Hence, while universal laws should work every single time if we apply them properly, my suggestion is to align intent with a higher purpose. Your higher purpose invariably involves how you can best serve others while being true to yourself. You will be surprised how much universal support you garner when you bring a greater spiritual meaning to your physical experience.

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #4: Connect Emotionally

This is no longer a secret with all LOA (Law of Attraction) students. Create your intent in an inner environment of emotional connection. Connect with how it feels with already “owning” the desired intent.

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #5: Obey the 68 Second Rule

Hold the intent in your being for at least 68 seconds. Don’t know why? Read my previous post on 68 seconds miracle.

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #6: Gratitude Now

Be in the state of gratitude when making the intent. Acknowledge your current blessings. Acknowledge with a thank you for what-is-to-come, as if you are already in receipt of it.

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #7: Work through Your Resistances

If you notice a resistance, work with it first and then go back to set the intent. Surely you would not want to end up manifesting the tail enders or find yourself in self-sabotage?

I had continued to update my personal vision board over the years. In the beginning, I had observed myself experiencing resistances. Gradually, I recognised them to be a fear of living up to my full potential.
Setting higher intentions had triggered an unease of moving out of my comfort zone. It was when I started to recall this quote by Marianne Williamson…

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

Needless to say, I found myself in an afternoon of doing inner release work right after recognising my resistances.

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #8:  Practice Art of Surrender

Surrender the “how”. Avoid getting into the mindless activity of wondering how the universe is going to bring your intent to manifestation. Have every trust that what you asked for is being worked on. The art of surrender also requires you to be non-attached to the outcome of your intent.

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #9: Shift Vibrationally

Have an awareness of the gap between what you are asking for and what you already have. If what you are asking for is a huge jump, do not doubt that it is not possible but at the same time, expect that you would need more time in upgrading vibrationally to match the frequency of your intent.

Then again, as I have read in metaphysics books, quantum leaps are very possible in the world of energy. So manifestations can be even in an instant if you manage to bring yourself into a vibrational match! What helps is also working on your beliefs and bringing them into alignment with your dream!

Set Powerful Intentions Tip #3: Follow Up with Immediate Action.

This tip follows point 2. Set your intents to work by following up on your visioning process. There are a lot of action ideas that you can take. According to a number of LOA coaches, it is important that you take the obvious actions signifying your intent to the Universe. Here are some:

– If you are making the intent for a romantic partner, you may want to look into picking up extra weekend activities that allows you to meet someone.

– If you are making the intent for a new car to take you to work, you may want to look into passing your driving test first!

– If you are making the intent for a new house in a new location, soak up the atmosphere by moving there or driving round the new neighborhood regularly first. (Currently, what I am doing :-))

– If you are making the intent for more money, make space for creative ideas to drop in. In short, taking time out for meditation can be helpful!

Conclusion

1. Get Your Antenna Up. I always tell my friends/clients that the Universe may have already been responding to their requests physically not longer after they have made them. The problem is that they are not getting their antenna up. I call this “the antenna of awareness”.  Refrain from having fixated ideas of what the Universe is going to send you. Be simply aware and open, while keeping your mind focused on the qualities of what you have asked for.

2. Art of Setting Intention. As you can probably guess by now, setting intents is an art. It is not traditional goal-setting. It has been an adventure for me in getting all the elements together! When my intents are not manifesting, it is finding out which areas I have missed out on in getting my vibrations up. Universal laws always work! No doubt about it. The question is really on how properly I have applied universal laws or whether I am in resistance to something.

Hi Evelyn,

The one thing that I think gets often overlooked with the whole LOA and intentions is the importance of actually feeling what it is that you want to experience. I used to ignore that aspect too because it seemed kind of obvious in a way. However, when I look back, I realize that back then I was not fully engaged in the feeling of what I was visualizing.

I have come to notice that when you back an intention with full feeling, things have a way of happening much faster and smoother. So if someone wants to be financially secure, then feel financially secure. Imagine the perfect bank account and feel what you think it would be like to be financially secure.

It is important to also be open to how the desire will manifest itself. Life has a funny way of bringing you what you want.

Hello Nadia,

Thanks for sharing what has worked for you. From what you say, I am also guessing that I won’t be totally feeling it if I have resistances? I tend to work from the perspective that if something is not happening according to my intent, then there is a blockage somewhere. It is usually some fear that I have to address.

It’s true that life has a funny way of bringing me what I want. The good and the bad…LOL! The trick is to stay positively focused and not pay heed to the old stories that I have been so conditioned in believing.

Happy Thanksgiving!

With love,
Evelyn

Thank you for this post! Its too easy for me to think about what I dont want or dont want to feel. This is a good reminder for me to really connection emotionally.

Hello Carla,

I definitely can understand how easy it is to focus on the negative. However, if we want our external circumstances to change, we will need to BE positive from now on! All the best to your journey!

I did miss the last one, so now I have to make sure that I’m ready for Sunday (I didn’t know Sunday was a powerful day for manifesting, so I’m really glad I stopped by here). I actually have two things that are really important to me that are sort of hovering nearby and I want to fully pull into my life (you know when something is so near that you can almost see it, and yet it doen’t seem to fully manifest).

Happy Thanksgiving Evelyn. 🙂

Evelyn - November 28, 2009

It seems like excellent timing that we are visiting each other’s blogs, Mare! I know…I am working on a couple of stuff myself….trying to gain more clarity and setting the intent that reflects more of who I really am.

All the best to getting everything together soon!

Happy Thanksgiving once again!

Thanks Evelyn – Thanks for this. I had no idea the treble 11 dates were so powerful. I’m glad I read this today instead of Monday, so I’ll be spending a lot of time working on manifestion tomorrow.

Hello Cath,

Hope you had a great day setting your intents! November 2009 is still a double-eleven; so you can have at least one or two more days before the month comes to a close.

All the best,
Evelyn

Evelyn,
This is so interesting with where I’m at in my life right now (and especially with 11/29 just around the corner!).

And the Marianne Williamson quote is one of my very favorites! So, thank you for sharing that here too.

Good for you, Lance 🙂

Suzie Cheel - November 29, 2009

Hi Evelyn,
So happy to have dropped by here today. Just this morning Des came up with a new way for me to move forward.

like you we have our new home firmly in our vision, drive past, been to visit, have picture hanging on my inspiration line that I see when I wake each day.

Today I am going to add to and change my inspiration line as well as modify my online vision board- thank you.
I so recognise what you are saying about living up to your full potential and what I do to block that process.:) Now for a little mind mapping to get the unfinished complete- that always brings on feelings of success.

Thank you for your so timely post and to my soul for dropping in
Namaste

Joy - November 30, 2009

Evelyn,
I read your post then woke this morning and set my intentions. Very mindfully. I believe in “ask and you shall receive” so I try to make sure what I am visualizing is actually what I truly desire. For example, rather than ask for “love with so and so” I tend to ask for genuine and sincere love because left to my own I don’t always make the best choice 🙂
My lesson has been to learn to be a good receiver. I’ve found it overwhelming at times to ask for amazing (like my boat) and then to actually be given amazing. My two young children are so cute– I just started doing monthly dream boards and they look at each item specifically to see what will be coming into our life. They fully expect if you put it out there, it will manifest itself . Huge reminder for me:)

Hello Joy,

Kids have a lot to teach us in belief and having trust. I learn a lot from mine too!

Most certainly, I can share that a lot of what I included in my first vision board manifested. There is no mistaking that when I put in my feel, intent and imagination, things started to happen in the most amazing way for me!

All the best to the setting of your intents!

Evelyn

Deb - December 3, 2009

I love reading others ideas of intentions because there are always new pieces to the puzzle that I have not worked on. Usually if I see something I need it will stay with me and I try to figure out how to work with it. My antennae picks up a lot and I have to write them down!
Thanks Evelyn!

I think working with our resistances is sometimes the very best lesson we give ourselves, in allowing our feelings come up especially. Just let them be, then wish them well and continue on with our visioning and actions of clear specificity.

68 seconds, eh? That is so cool! I’m gonna try that, now that I have a phone with a neat stop-watch on it.

Baker - December 4, 2009

Hey Evelyn,

I think you made a really powerful point here for step 3 in regards to aligning with the Intention “Making intents for pure egoistical material fulfillment seldom works out meaningfully for me.” From my experience, the closer to my heart the intention is or as you as you say the more aligned with the intention produces results more naturally and easily.

Abundance,
Baker

Miche - Serenity Hacker - December 6, 2009

Hi Evelyn,
I really enjoyed these tips on setting intentions. I think the highlights on connecting to your emotions and working through resistances are especially important. Often, our resistances can surface as an emotion that we don’t quite understand yet, not realizing that beneath that there is some resistance based on a limiting belief or habitual thought pattern. Thanks for sharing this great list of tips and resources.

Cheers,
Miche 🙂

Hi Evelyn .. this is such a good post and I went back and looked at the 68 seconds post and watched the Youtube segment – it is powerful. What you’re saying is so strong .. and I’ve lost my way in the last three years – others have been more important .. I need to get on track – so really good pointers.

Just what I need at the moment .. except it’s now December!
Have a good month and Christmas – despite the cool of the warmth!

Thanks for the great advice! I particularly like #3 Align Your Intention. To that I would add….seek what makes you happy. Helping others does make you happy. All roads lead to happiness. Why else would we want money, health, and great relationships? To be Happy! I have found no greater way of being happy than to be of service to others…to know I have helped someone or made a positive impact on their lives.

Hi,

I just wished to seek your advice about 1 thing; is it okay to set deadline in your intents? For example, say, I want to get recovered from certain disease/situation in 30 days or by the end of this month?
