I spent part of the early part of this evening debating whether I should go join my girlfriend in St James Power Station. It’s been a long time since I went to a pub joint. I remember the days when I would party a few times a week. Even mid week and going to work (in a bank) the next day was not a problem. Even staying up late and waking up early the next morning for a wakeboarding session was no big deal. So a call from my girlfriend had me reminiscing about the past.
Now as I reflect, I wish I have known about the internet back then. I would have cut down on the partying and spend more time doing productive things. Maybe if that had happened, I would be like John Reese now, earning millions of dollars, through years of testing and getting to know about driving traffic.
Still, I tell myself that whether I am out there dancing or here at home on a Friday night after putting my kids to sleep, I love every minute of what I do. That’s right. It’s important to enjoy myself whether I am at work or at play.
On another note, if you have read John Reese’s latest report, he is prophesizing that it will get harder and harder to make money on the internet. This is true. While in the old days, submitting 10 articles is good enough to drive an avalanche of traffic, you will need to submit hundreds or thousands more for the same number of visitors in the near future.
As I see it now, it is already happening. More and more people will want to jump onto the bandwagon. Afterall, it is getting easier and easier to set up a website with the potential to make money. Google levelled the playing field for everyone to get a piece of the online pie with its adsense program. Yet at the same time, as more gets into the game, it will become a harder process to generate traffic.
Dancing away in St James Power Station tonight? I’m choosing to stay home to crack the code on generating more traffic.
But to be sure, I will be calling my girlfriend one of these fridays for a night out. My party goer girlfriend is no small fly either. She is a high powered executive in an MNC. Yes, and married too! Her membership card will get me in easily without having to go through the pain of queuing for more than an hour.
Even computer geeks like me still needs a break once in awhile…..
