Following my previous blog post, I’m sure some of you may agree that it sounds like a good plan to have at least 1000 good quality articles working for you by year end.
But doesn’t it seem easier said than done…to begin with, how to find all that content for article writing of your topic? Here are 10 sources that I’ve used myself to generate content ideas:
1) Subscribe to Google Alerts on your topic. Just do a browser search for google alerts and type in the keyword of your topic. You get instant alerts on a daily basis. It is a neat way of finding out what others are saying about your topic.
2) Browse through magazines. Magazines are a great way to find all related topics to your niche. Here is where you can find expansion in content ideas.
3) Borrow books from the library. It will cost me a lot of money if I buy all the books related to all the niche topics I’m in. I’m also a voracious reader. I save more money by just borrowing them from my local library. At the same time, while in the library, I pick out books for my two girls as they are turning out to love reading just like me
4) Look through your keyword research. Doing keyword research can help unearth a ton of ideas on what to write.
5) Talk to your industry experts. Say you may have a site on diabetes, so what you can best do is to make a lunch date with your doctor friend. I get a ton of ideas for my health sites by just asking some of my friends over for meals.
6) Strike up a conversation with the gardener, taxi driver or shop keeper. The point is that these people may just give you an article idea for that day. If you don’t even say a word, especially if you work from a home office, how do you get any ideas at all? — This is the best tip from a WAHM.
7) Ask your subscribers. If you’ve got a list of subscribers, why not simply ask them what they want to read? Additionally, people love to tell stories. Ask them to submit a story about the niche that you are in.
Spy on your competitors’ sites. Find out what others have to say about your niche. That will generate a ton of content ideas for you.
9) Get involved in your niche. This tip applies to niches that you can participate in.
Needless to say, if you play golf, then it is easier to think about 1000 ways to improve on your handicap score and write articles for your golf site than if you’ve never picked up a golf club ever in your life.
10) My favorite of all - go to articlemap.com and browse for your topic of interest. Get a bunch of article ideas from other writers who have done the research!
