Avoid Duplicate Content With Consistent Links

Do you know that google may penalise variations of your url address (that is, http://www.domainname.com, http://domainname.com and/or http://www.domainname.com/index.htm) as duplicate content? The result is that your site loses rankings.

This being the case, it is imperative that we make our baclinks consistent. In terms of article marketing, it is best that we make our links consistent in the author’s resource box for article submission. For best practices, I’ve always found it a good idea to have one of my links appear in full as “http://www.domainname.com”. The rest of my links are anchor text keyword links which also point to the same address in full - http://www.domainname.com

Of course, you can also always use .htaccess files to fix and prevent duplicate content penalty by google. But if you are like me, who is not IT savvy, I would not want to mess up my site with a .htaccess file without getting the help of a specialist.
