My Personal Creed

(Photo taken during a walk outside my home last week)

“I am a co-Creator of the Universe. My abundance is a reflection of my inner space. All the physical magnificence I experience is an experience of what goes on inside. I am an artist with a soul. I am aware.

With love that fills me up and insight from awareness, I bring beauty to the world. I draw, paint and carve every laughter, joy and peace. I find inspired meaning in all-of-creation. There is brilliance in everything that I see, hear, touch or feel.

I am connected in Oneness, with my relationships to the world. Love fills me from my home and my relationships with others. I am well nourished with warmth, joy and kindness. My soul grows in tandem with the lessons that each relationship brings.

Movement gives Life but Silence is my grounding. In the space between thoughts, insight arises. I ask for Divine Guidance for every affirming action that I take.

Knowing who I really am allows me to express my natural gifts, abilities and talents beautifully. My divine creations capture the Essence of Life. They highlight the evolvement of my soul. I give freely what I hope to receive: Love, Peace, Joy, Wisdom and Compassion. I inspire hope, vision and dreams, leaving trails of light wherever I tread.

Abundance is what my soul has come to experience of Life on Earth. I am One with the Universe. I am One.”

— Evelyn Lim

Here are my notes for today’s post:

1. Personal Creed. The above is my personal creed, written in response to a call for submissions by Daphne Lim from Joyful Days. According to her, personal creeds are not the same as affirmations. Personal creeds have an element of spirituality. Luckily, she had some useful guidelines on how to write one. I was able to follow them to come up with mine pretty quickly. If you are up to writing a personal creed for yourself, do check out her site for helpful hints!

2.Creativity. Need to have some ideas for content on your personal creed, blog, video or book but getting stuck on the creative level? Can’t seem to get ideas flowing, huh? Marelisa Fábrega comes to your rescue! She has just launched a new ebook: How to Be Creative – A Handbook for Alchemists. In her book, she included many practical exercises that we can use to stimulate our creative juices. Apparently, you can’t go wrong if you have tried them out. They are proven techniques! Check out her ebook here!

3.Expanded Awareness. What-if is a powerful movie that can help open up your awareness to expanded possibilities. I viewed it online over the weekend, after being recommended to it by my two blogger friends, Jenny Mannion and Robin Birch. I wanted to watch the movie because one of the cast being interviewed was Dr Bruce Lipton. My husband and I have been fans of his, since we bought his program on The Biology of Belief when he first came to Singapore some years back.

In case you have no idea who I am so hot over, here is a brief introduction of Dr Bruce Lipton. Dr Bruce Lipton is a scientist, involved in human genetic engineering. His research at Stanford University’s School of Medicine, between 1987 and 1992, revealed that the environment controlled the behavior and physiology of the cell, turning genes on and off. His discoveries run counter to the established scientific view that genes control how one’s life is going to be. Dr Bruce Lipton’s deepened understanding of cell biology highlights how our minds control bodily functions, and implies the existence of an immortal spirit. His work, a pioneer in the field of biomedical sciences, bridged science and spirit.

I was happy that there was enough footage of Dr Lipton in the What-If movie. What-if also shared proof of people who have gone without meals on extended periods of time and mothers who gave birth at the age of 80!! The possibilities are endless if we dare to open up our minds. I challenge you to watch What-If and to let me know your thoughts. It’s only US$4.95 to watch it online!! A no-brainer!

Got to go for now!! I am attending a discussion on “Connecting to Source” and need to get ready!

Thanks Evelyn,
I never heard of What If movie, interesting. I like Joe Dispensa guy, he is in that short video clip I watched on their site. He is also in What The Bleep Do we Know and The Secret as far as I can recall. I have his book, it is really interesting.

I saw your creed on Joyful days in my RSS reader, for some reason can’t access Daphne’s website at the moment

Good Luck with your discussion

Carlota - March 12, 2009

Your personal creed is beautiful, thank you for sharing Evelyn! I loved how you blended art with love throughout the creed.

“Movement gives Life but Silence is my grounding.” This was very poetic and wise!

Thanks for the resources in your notes, I’ll have to check them out!
Now, I’m off to pondering my own Creed 😉

Jay - March 12, 2009

Ah the What If movie. Jenny told me to watch that a month ago and I keep forgetting. Thank you for the reminder, and for sharing you creed with us. Very Inspiring!

Robin - March 12, 2009

Hi Evelyn – thanks for the mention!

I’ve watched What if? about 3 times now! And the director’s commentary as well, which is on the DVD. I have found it a real inspiration to heal myself – it becomes so clear that anything is possible.

Your creed is really beautiful and moving – thanks.

Jay Schryer - March 12, 2009

This is beautiful! I’ve never heard of having a personal creed before, but I think it’s a great idea. I think it’s much more powerful than an affirmation, and aligns you beautifully with yourself…and the Universe. You’ve inspired me to go out and try to write my own personal creed. Very lovely indeed!

Mary Madeline Day - March 12, 2009

Hi Evelyn,

Thank You! Never heard of personal creed before either. I have read and learned about many, but not how to make your own. (except I wrote something similar during an empowerment course – but nothing near as powerful as yours). Your creed is beatuiful written and I can feel the love you put into it. Very inspiring indeed!

Forgot all about the “what if” movie, thank you for the reminder. Love Dr. Liptons work myself. Again thank you Evelyn for being who you are and bringing all this knowledge and ideas to us through. (even though we are all one, so you are bringing it out to yourself)! =)

Love,

Mary Madeline

Stacey / Create a Balance - March 12, 2009

Thanks for introducing me to What If. Your post is inspiring me to upload my personal creed onto my blog too.

“Movement gives Life but Silence is my grounding.” – That is simply beautiful.

Dot - March 12, 2009

That’s beautiful, Evelyn! Every time I come here, I find a feeling of peace, a new resource, and something beautiful. I feel like I have so far to go, and not enough time to read and view the huge number (abundance) of resources there are now for spiritual growth. I’ll have to add What If to my list!

Dot - March 12, 2009

PS – FYI, Cath Lawson is doing the Silva Home Study Course and blogging her reviews of each stage. I bought the course yesterday and am looking forward to trying it out, if I can find the time to listen to it all. Thanks for featuring it here and reviewing it.

erica H - March 12, 2009

Evelyn:

Thanks for all your insight as you grow on this journey. Most importantly what you have shared on the attractionmindmap site is priceless… I have heard of a personal creed, but never really paid much attention to find out what it actually was (similarly to those who claim to have a personal Motto). You have certainly well defined it for all of us what it really is! You said, “Movement gives Life but Silence is my grounding.” This is so true because when we are still we can align ourselves to Spirit and receive, learn, and to come into knowing. Just by saying that I am guilty of not being still enough, lol! Thanks so much and keep it coming. May you be bless abundantly!

Vered - MomGrind - March 12, 2009

Your personal creed is beautiful. Mine is short and a little boring: “be kind.” Maybe yours will inspire me to craft something more detailed too.

J.D. Meier - March 13, 2009

I like your creed. It’s from the heart.

Jannie Funster - March 13, 2009

I was going to say that was written by Buddha, until I say your byline there, Evelyn.

And your neighborhood is gorgeous.

Marelisa - March 13, 2009

Hi Evelyn: I’ve had a personal creed for awhile now and I read it every morning to help remind me of how I want to lead my life. Yours is beautiful. I Especially like this: “leaving trails of light wherever I tread”. Thank you for mentioning my ebook 🙂

Laurie | Express Yourself to Success - March 13, 2009

What a lovely creed. Thanks for sharing it.

I’m familiar with Bruce Lipton from an interesting on-demand event / talk on the Hay House website. However, I was not familiar with What If?, so thank you for the recommendation. I’m looking forward to watching it this weekend.

Jean Browman--Cheerful Monk - March 13, 2009

My creed is short: “Stay curious and open to life. No matter what happens keep learning and growing. Find what you love to do and find a way to share it with others.” It’s enough to keep me occupied for a lifetime. 😉

Evelyn - March 13, 2009

Hey folks, Daphne’s site is down at the moment due to some technical issues. It should be up soon for those who wish to check out her guide on how to write a personal creed.

@Peter, I have not got Joe Dispensa’s books, although I have watched What the Bleep and The Secret. Which book of his is interesting? I’d like to put it in my booklist!

@Carlota, hope to see your personal creed published online soon 🙂

@Jay, it’ll be great if you can watch the What-If movie and tell me your thoughts!

@Robin, three times? I may just get the DVD!!

Evelyn - March 13, 2009

@Jay Schryer, do share your personal creed with all of us, ok?

@Mary Madeline, thanks for liking what I’ve written. I’ve not heard of a personal creed before until Daphne from Joyful Days provided a definition. Unfortunately, Daphne is having some serious technical issues with her site currently. We did plan to publish our posts around the same time. It looks like you may need to wait a day or two, if you need some guidelines on how to write one. Don’t forget to watch the “What-If” movie!!

@Stacey, I’d be waiting to see your personal creed 🙂 I’m glad that you like “Movement gives Life but Silence is my grounding”.

Evelyn - March 13, 2009

Dot,

Thanks for providing the feedback on the “feel” of my site. I am highly protective of its conveyance of serenity, love and joy. Each post that I publish is enveloped in pink quartz and carried by angels to the Universe.

Thanks for letting me know about Cath Lawson’s reviews. The discussion I went to last evening on “Connecting to Source” was held by my teacher in Silva. In my opinion, Silva is a beautiful way of empowering yourself in body-mind-spirit. It’s great that you have bought the program. Do share your thoughts on your site!

Abundance always,
Evelyn

Evelyn - March 13, 2009

@erica H, thank you for liking the posts on this site. Do read what I’ve written to Dot in the above comments regarding the energy that I intend my blog to exude. I’m glad that you like what I wrote on “Movement gives life but Silence is my grounding”. It is really about me. I take photos of people in movement to capture life during the day but every night, I go into meditation before sleeping.

@Vered, you are such an excellent writer that I have no doubts in your ability to come up with a beautiful one.

@J.D. Meier, it is 🙂

@Jannie, you seriously can’t mean that about the Buddha…LOL!! Admittedly, I was in a sacred space whilst writing my personal creed. I had to shoo my husband away, when he wanted to talk to me whilst I was writing.

@Marelisa, you’ve written an awesome book! Hope that you find much success with it!

Evelyn - March 13, 2009

@Laurie, don’t forget to watch the video! If you like Dr Bruce Lipton’s work, you may just enjoy the movie!

@Jean, I like your creed. Like you’ve highlighted, we don’t really need long ones if ours are inspiring enough for a lifetime of purpose.

Suzie Cheel - March 13, 2009

Hi Evelyn,

I love your creed and feel inspired to write a new one, like your “leaving trails of light wherever I tread”.

I also love your image. peace combined with strength

I enjoyed reading you, as always.

Hi Evelyn,
Your personal creed is nice. And I especially love the last sentence. Thanks for sharing the information about the movie” what if” and you’ve raised my curiosity about that.I’m gonna watch it.

Ariel Bravy - March 13, 2009

Wonderful creed, Evelyn. It suits you so perfectly. You speak like a Divinely inspired poet. 🙂

Evelyn - March 13, 2009

@Suzie, oh do write one!! I am sure that you will be able to come up with a beautiful one!

@Journey within, I’m glad that you like the creed.

@Vikum, it’s quite a lovely movie. Do watch it and share your thoughts.

@Ariel, oh come on…my creed hardly rhymes!! Then again, I was thankful to learn that creeds don’t need to. I wrote from my heart and that was most important!

Lance - March 13, 2009

Hi Evelyn,

Your creed is wonderful, and really just gives me a bit more insight to the amazing soul you are! Thank you for sharing it here. I feel like everything in this whole post I can relate to, so this is touching me deeply – all of it. It is indeed comforting for me to be here this morning…

Jenny Mannion - March 13, 2009

Hi Evelyn,
I, too thought your creed must be a Buddhist quote it is so beautiful (and obviously from the heart!) ! I also love the picture of your neighborhood!

Thank you for the mention. I had to watch What If? two times for it to sink in. I think I might have to get the DVD as well to see all the extras. Dr. Lipton is awesome, isn’t he? WHAT an intelligent and ground breaking man he is! The movie has so many inspirational people and stories and I have felt blessed to promote it.

Evelyn, it is such a pleasure to come here. You truly do emit beauty, inspiration and love – what’s better than that?! 🙂

Lots of love,
Jenny

Albert | UrbanMonk.net - March 13, 2009

Hey Evelyn, saw your creed over at Daphne’s blog too. I think you guys have inspired me to go write one of my own. 😉 Yours is truly poetic though.

Lizwi - March 13, 2009

This is really inspiring. One has to look at the world differently. Most of us really need to understand ouselves better than we do. I enjoyed reading about personal creed. I will be writing mine soon.

Evelyn - March 13, 2009

@Lance, it is not a surprise to me that you resonate well with my creed. Aren’t we One to begin with?

@Jenny, thanks for your comment about my creed and site. I love your positive energy too! I smile when I think of you. You are getting the DVD? I may get it too. It will be great to share it in a movie night at my place with some of my friends.

@Albert, I’d love to see yours!!

@Lizwi, hey…I am glad that you are inspired to write yours too!

Daphne - March 13, 2009

Evelyn,

I’ve read your creed already obviously, but seeing it here with the photo of the tree near where you live just drives it home. You think and write beautifully.

Thanks for the link love, and sorry that the site was down for a day. It’s up and running now. Glad you found the framework helpful. I recognised your six paragraphs straightaway!

Cath Lawson - March 14, 2009

Hi Evelyn, your personal creed is lovely and inspiring. I hadn’t heard of Dr Lipton, but his research sounds interesting and it could open up a world of amazing possibilities.

I planned to watch “What If” over Christmas but I got ill with chest infection. I’m finally hoping to get round to watching it tonight. Everyone who has watched it seems so excited, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Evelyn - March 14, 2009

@Daphne, my neighbourhood is lovely, is it not? During our walk, my kids insisted on walking into the open field on a little hilltop. It was when I saw how the evening sun captured the yellows from the greens of the field. Your framework for writing a creed was helpful. I would not have known how to get started. Thanks!! I’m glad that your site is finally back!

@rajiv, you are welcome!

@Jenny, I read your creed. Great list of intents you’ve got!!

@Cath, Dr Lipton’s work highlights that our environment play a more important factor than we realize. Very often, we blame our genes for all kinds of things like cancer, handicaps, etc. Here is one cell biologist whose scientific research clearly show that we can affect our environment and be in control of our own destiny. Truly empowering!! Enjoy the What-If movie!

NaTuRaL - March 14, 2009

I’m familiar with 2 and 3, but never heard of Personal Creed. I’m off to check it out. I’m in the process of changing a few things about my life and I don’t mind peeking at something new. 🙂

Evelyn - March 14, 2009

NaTuRaL,

Good for you in 2 & 3. How timely for you! It’s nice that you are considering writing one too!

Have a great weekend,
Evelyn

Nadia-Happy Lotus - March 15, 2009

Hi Evelyn,

Thank you so much for this post. It caused me to re-evaluate my personal creed (I used to call it my personal mission statement) which I first wrote back in 2006 and I realized that it has evolved into more than what I intended it to be. This realization makes me so happy because I realize how much I have grown in terms of my spiritual journey and that my awareness about life and myself has expanded. Once again, thank you! 🙂

Kelly@SHE-POWER - March 15, 2009

Evelyn, your personal creed is beautiful and thank you for sharing something so personal with us. I haven’t seen Daphne’s site before, but I’ll have to go check it out. I would like to write one also, though I don’t feel introspective enough at present, so I’ll respect that and do it when the time feels right.

I still haven’t seen this WHAT IF? movie, but everything I have read about it here and on Robin’s and Jenny’s sites I think MusicMan and I will have to make a time to watch it asap.

On a side note, this site with your powerful messages and serene photography is really evolving beautifully. Congratulations.

Kelly xx
