Oracle Card Reading For Divine Guidance

Do you use divination cards to receive guided messages sometimes? I have been enjoying the use of my Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards.

Goddess Guidance Oracle Card Reading

The cards are from Doreen Virtue and feature beautiful artwork of cross-cultural goddesses from Celtic, Mayan, Egyptian, Greek, Tibetan, Buddhist and others. Some examples include Isis, Athena, Kuan Yin, Green Tara and Mother Mary. I don’t use to take card readings seriously for years but it has been amazing what has come up recently.

I usually invite clients for a card reading at the end of their sessions with me. I asked that they approach the reading with openness, curiosity and playfulness. Even with bearing a healthy skepticism in mind, the cards they picked would invariably present some helpful meaning to them. I have no intention of claiming credit for the divination, because I merely facilitate the process (which is really simple). The messages are from their own guides and angels.

Self Divination

I do not usually use the cards on myself but was prompted to do so over the weekend. My friend, a life coach himself, reminded me during a telephone chat that I could give myself a card reading. You would think I’d have thought about it myself! The truth was I did not! I was trying to analyze a project offer that came up and pondering on which work direction I would like to go.

So right after my meditation two nights ago, I laid out the cards in front of me and asked for some spiritual guidance. While each card should be interpreted in the context of the question being asked, I felt that what was written in the guidebook provided (that came with the stack of oracle cards) was directly relevant. The cards that came up for me (see picture above) were:

Dana (High Priestess)

“You have Divine knowledge that can help others through your spiritual teachings.”

The Dana card is the same one featured on the cover of the pack. Dana is a one of the most ancient Celtic goddess, extending to the pre-Gaelic times of Ireland. She is extremely powerful and magical. She helps in manifestations, alchemy and divine magic.

Dana highly recommends not to delay in expressing ancient wisdom. Dana also promises to assist in the manifesting of platforms for teaching. The Dana card also says “all forms of teaching are equally valuable, no matter how many lives you touch.”

Aine (Leap of Faith)

“Take a risk and put your heart’s true desire into action!”

Aine is a powerful Celtic goddess, who has been highly revered in Ireland. She helps in providing courage in the realization of dreams.

The Aine card says “Procrastinating about your dreams won’t make things go away. Neither will it make them happen. Indecision is the death of the soul’s burning passion to improve, grow and learn. Don’t worry about making the wrong decision. Instead, worry about making no decision at all! Then take time to pray, meditate, investigate, research, go on nature walks….and make your decision.” Hmmmmm….what wonderful advice!!

Freyja (Be Bold)

“Unleash your adventurous side. Take risks and be daring!”

Freyja is a Nordic earth goddess of fertility, celebration and passion. She rides in a chariot pulled by mighty cats across the rainbow bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. Unafraid of her sexual power, she teaches us to appreciate our attractiveness and to enjoy ourselves. Friday was, in fact, named in her honor!

Freyja advices “success comes not from timidity but from committing yourself fully to realizing your dream. Hold the clear intention of success, and it shall come about.” Bingo to the holding of the intent!

Reflections

All in all, being bold and playful appears to be the message for me in taking future steps! Out of three cards, two of them provided the exact same advice. I was “told” to celebrate my success with a party or splurging on a wonderful indulgence! I certainly will follow up on that one 🙂

One final note. I thought that it was also pretty amazing that two of the cards featured the country “Ireland”. The word stood out for me because I have been getting a flood of clients from Ireland in the last two months. I decided to check my akashic records if I had past lives in Ireland. And….the answer was yes!

Magical Unicorns Oracle Card Reading

Pay my daughters a visit and get them to do a card reading for you!! They operate a stall that says “Angelic Card Reading Stall” for make-believe. Then again, they won’t mind getting paid for real either! Are the readings facilitated by them any accurate? You bet! Some were remarkably insightful!

I bought the Magical Unicorn Oracle Cards for my two girls a few months back and taught them how to use it. This stack is especially good for the young because most children can relate to unicorns and the enclosed guidebook is fairly simple to use. A six year-old can easily read it!

Many of the 44 cards have words and paintings suggested by Indigo and Crystal Children, making their positive messages even more magical. Both my daughters love reading the cards for each other and for friends who come over.

Hi Evelyn,
yes I do a card reading everyday for myself, usually use Doreen Virtue Cards- after doing her Angel Intuitive Course 6 years ago.

Hey Suzie,

You read a card everyday? Oh wow! I haven’t been doing so, as mentioned in today’s post. I look forward to reading your posts on the daily cards!

Love & light,

Hey Evelyn,
I actually believe in both the tarot and oracle, as they both are from
our spiritual guide in giving us an answer to our question in discovering our journey in this life. I must say beautiful decks of goddess cards I would love your daughters to do a tarot reading for me, i believe kids have a better intuition and unbiased judgement. once again another good reading for the soul.

I have a set of Heart and Angel Cards that I use from time to time. They have never steered me in the wrong direction. I will buy myself a set of the Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards!

Magsjoy - September 8, 2009

The Angels always amaze me! I am an ATP under Doreen Virtue and learned a great deal from her about using my cards. In my Reiki work, I offer my clients a mini reading after their session. It seems like a good time for them to be receptive to what messages the Angels are relaying. I am never surprised but always amazing at the accuracy of the reading to the person or their question. I have all the DV cards; I keep them wrapped in a scarf with a crystal so they stay clear. I let my clients pick which packet of Angel joy they are drawn to… I do notice the difference in the energy of the cards. The Goddess cards are often picked and not just by women. The Archangels are the top pick… I love their energy! Sending light, Mags

Hi Evelyn, I’ve been using Sonia Choquette’s cards – The Answer is Simple and Ask Your Guides. They too have been very helpful and accurate. I have recently started to study my Motherpeace tarot deck again, along with Angeles Arrien’s Tarot Handbook. I keep the cards handy and often will consult them when I find a quiet moment.

The Divine can speak to us through varied means. i am learning to read the I-Ching divination. The important matter is in the interpretation of the ”Code” which only You have the key to unlock. It comes smoother with more practise. Its an excellent channel to communicate with our Guides. Thanks for your sharing.
Cheers!

Evelyn,

Wow, talk about divine providence. I was just shown a set of tarot cards for life coaching and don’t know how to use them. Then I saw this post. You’ll probably hear from me soon via email for information and advice!

Kelly@SHE-POWER - September 8, 2009

I have had my cards read many times over the years, though not recently. I actually prefer runes for myself. They call to me and I have been using them for almost 20 years now. I don’t do my runes regularly anymore (haven’t felt the need I guess), but I have used them for spiritual guidance many times when faced with a crossroads in life or just utter fog! They have always been incredibly helpful and once I can remember being amazed that no matter how many times I laid down the runes on an issue (I didn’t like the answer the first time) they always came back essentially the same. I followed their guidance and sure enough life followed a similar path in accordance with their divination.

The doors you are opening in your life are very exciting. Big things are coming, I can feel it.

I very much believe in this, and agree that our energy affects the cards that are drawn. I don’t have cards that I use personally (use to, but now I rely on friends with this gift), but I will use books for random messages or this site that I really like: (www) innerlightworkers.co.uk/ascendedmasters/mastermessage.htm
I found this one day while searching the word “inspiring message” or something along those lines. (I love what comes up when I do that!) Anyhow, whenever I’ve used it or pointed friends to it, it’s been very helpful.
The cards you drew for yourself were awesome, by the way! And your daughters… I love that they’re doing card readings, too. Old souls, it would appear.
Have a super day!

Evelyn - September 8, 2009

Delia,

My girls will be happy to hear that you’d like to get a reading from them. The last I heard is that they are hoping to charge $1,000 per person. I almost fell off my chair!

Carla,

The artwork for the Goddess Guidance pack is really beautiful! It is currently my favorite of them all! Get it if you think that you’d like it too!

May you be divinely guided in love, light and truth!

Krishna,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about oracle card readings. I have found the revelation from the messages very interesting. It seems to be almost always relevant to the question being asked. Thank you for your advice about wrapping my cards in silk!

Daphne,

Someone just gave you a set of tarot cards??? Wow…this is amazing! What a gift too! Yes, do write to me if you’ve got questions.

Kelly,

LOL…thanks for being so candid about not liking the answer the first time round when doing card readings! I can certainly identify with that! More recently, I just trust the first message and unless I need more answers, I do not pursue it any more. I haven’t explored runes though!

Thanks! Yes, things are shifting for me though I can’t see very clearly what the next step is yet.

Keep shining (was just looking at your photo),
Evelyn

Hello Magsjoy,

Welcome to my site! I am wondering how I can missed your comment earlier on. In any case, here is my response. Great idea about letting clients pick the stack of cards they feel drawn to! Yes, I did notice slight nuances in the energies of the different packs. Also, I use them for different situational readings as well!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us all!

With love,
Evelyn

Hi Evelyn,
I don’t use cards and have never had a reading but after reading this article and your reader comments I’m intrigued! I have heard good things about the Doreen Virtue set. I may have to check those out sometime.

Megan,

I have just checked out the site you recommended. Hmmm…..the message I got was very interesting. I am going to take note of it. Thanks for the recommendation!

Jodi,

You’ve got to excuse me for posting about my experiments and adventures every now and then. On my blog, I share much of the stuff I have tried.

I confess to being a skeptic to many of the ideas I share on this site, which is why I need to go investigate and reach some kind of conclusion on whether the ideas have individually worked for me. I have been intrigued myself by the answers that have come up from the readings.

Yes, try the Doreen Virtue sets. They are a great way to start! I am not intending to be some professional tarot card reader and have found the Doreen Virtue’s sets good enough!

With love,
Evelyn

Dot - September 8, 2009

Hi Evelyn,

I’ve had one Tarot card reading done, which fit with what I was thinking of doing at the time. I’ve also done many readings with a Tarot deck that particularly appealed to me, but eventually I stopped because the cards just seemed to tell me what the situation was (which i already knew), rather than what steps to take. I’d be interested in a reading from your daughters, too, if they’d like to do it.

Hi Evelyn,

I draw a Doreen Virtue card every day after my morning meditation and I love them! And right now I’m really interested in learning about mythical Gods and Goddesses, so loved reading about your set of cards. Being Irish, I was also interested in your celtic Goddesses, whom I didn’t know about! I think I’m gonna get me a pack of these cards 🙂

J.D. Meier - September 8, 2009

I like how sometimes the right prompt can trigger just the right thing you need to hear at just the right moment, whether it’s the right card, the right quote, or the right fortune cookie.

Nadia - Happy Lotus - September 9, 2009

Hi Evelyn,

Years ago, I was really into Tarot cards. Some readings were helpful but most reflected what I was thinking which was not of help to me at that time. Or rather, I did not feel it was of assistance to me.

That said, I do believe in the power of signs and dreams and so on. I do think if we concentrate enough, we can find out what we need to find out. I think it is awesome that you picked the cards that you did.

By the way, I think the pictures of the Doreen Virtue cards are beautiful. Thank you for sharing them with us. 🙂

JB - September 9, 2009

Many years ago, I read regularly for myself, and occasionally for friends (though I still needed the book to help my reading). On one occasion, a dear friend asked for insight into a stressful situation. She was unmarried and pregnant, and wanted to know if the father would step up and do his part when the baby came.

The reading was generally favorable. It indicated that she would receive all the assistance needed, and would be surrounded by loving family and friends. I thought that seemed great. But the outcome card was interesting: it said, “Expect the unexpected”. My friend wondered what that meant. I said “well, you don’t expect the father to really participate—maybe he’ll surprise you. Or maybe you’ll have a boy instead of the girl you’re anticipating. Or twins!!” I didn’t see anything ominous in the spread.

When she was five months into the pregnancy, she was induced and gave birth to a little girl who lived only a few hours. The ultrasound had shown that the baby had anencephaly: the congenital absence of most of the brain and spinal cord. It was quite unexpected.

I stopped reading for a long time after that, because I believed the readings were real. Knowing I could read cards and might predict terrible things like that scared me, and at the time, I realized maybe I’d rather not know ahead of time. Funny how those of us who are sensitive to that information cannot prevent it from appearing in other ways, though. Since then, I have predictive dreams. ::SIGH:: At least I could control when I read cards, versus when I predict in dreams.

What wonderful decks, I did not know about either of them, but they both sound right up my ally, for me and my children. I don’t normally use cards, but have been wanting to try some. I do use the I Ching, and horary astrology (where you cast a chart for the time a question occurs instead of a person) occasionally when I am looking for guidance. The I Ching has been especially valuable to me. Your reading was wonderful, sounds like you have some exciting things on the horizon. – Lisa

Evita - September 9, 2009

Hi Evelyn

It is interesting that you wrote about this, as I recently this past summer, while on vacation have taught myself to read Tarot cards. I have the original, old looking deck (get the two names of them mixed up). It is not the easy looking deck, and I think in the future I may get the other deck, but regardless it was a really neat experience.

Immediately upon reading for myself and my husband, our cards gave us a lot of insight, but more so, they were so right on as to where we are in our lives. So while I know a lot of people are still not so “convinced” where cards are concerned, I always say they are just a tool to connect with you. No magic here, just access to a deeper connection.

I really like the Oracle deck you have also, might be neat to get that one too.

Although having said all this, I still believe that ultimately we can get to a place where we need no more tools, where we simple connect with our higher selves and have all the answers we want or need.

Evelyn - September 9, 2009

Hey Dot,

I think no one or any reading can tell you exactly what steps to take. We are born with free will or free choice, remember? Maybe the answers are really simply what you already know! Your next steps are to act on them!

With love,
Evelyn

Evelyn - September 9, 2009

Hey Krishna,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Indeed, I have been observing that more of us are taking charge of our own lives. Not just with mental analysis but by engaging our intuitive faculties.

Namaste.
Evelyn

Evelyn - September 9, 2009

@Hilda, my gut feel is that you will love working with the Goddess Guidance pack! Best wishes!

@J.D., oh yes…the answers are there all along!

@Nadia, I have never felt a resonance with Tarot. Hence, I cannot say much about tarot card readings. I also happen to prefer more uplifting messages, that can be found through Doreen’s cards. I am glad that you like the feature here on her oracle cards.

Evelyn - September 9, 2009

JB,

Sorry to read about how your experience has caused you to stop doing readings. Thanks for taking the time to share it here though!

Hopefully, some day, you can find a way to put your abilities to good use and for the light of all!

With love,
Evelyn

Evelyn - September 9, 2009

Lisa,

You’ve got to share with me about the I Ching someday. That said, many of these divination methods are really tools. I guess we have to pick the ones we resonate with!

With love,
Evelyn

Evelyn - September 9, 2009

Evita,

Oh yes, I kindof thought there is really nothing so mystical about using these tools. Often, we already know the answers but are unable to gain some clarity. The reason being that we are clouded by fears and emotions. If we have worked to address our limiting beliefs and patterns, the answers of what to do next should come naturally.

I forgot to add in my post that I also took the opportunity to examine my concerns as highlighted by the reading and to work on my own inner issues.

With love,
Evelyn

Hi Evelyn – I noticed the Celtic connection, too. Maybe you and I were related once! Love the pic of your daughter! I do my tarot cards about every six months – just for fun – I’m not very serious about it (I have a habit of re-pulling the cards if I don’t like them) – R

Hi Evelyn: I was very much into Tarot reading about six years back, but for some reason I lost interest. Is your daughter’s stall online? It’s so cute that they give divinations. 🙂

Hi Evelyn — I like how your posts challenge me to expand my horizons of what’s possible in spiritual practice. I’m looking forward to where the boldness and playfulness will take you.

Hilary - September 11, 2009

Hi Evelyn .. I have had my cards read once or twice, but wasn’t in that mode and so essentially ‘ignored’ the message, except the obvious.

Now I’m more aware .. and believe there are Angels and there is more to life than I know (being of the practical sort) .. but I’ll ask Janice, a lady who practises Reiki, yoga, butterfly massage etc with my mother as she will know & may practise them herself. Oddly I answered ‘courage’ earlier on on my breath in and ‘patience’ on my breath out in Jan Lundy’s blog “Awake is Good. Blogspot” and Janice had left me a note re my Mother being frightened and wanting courage – her faith is extremely strong even now she’s confined to bed 2.5 years .. so there’s some link there I guess.

Amazing world .. thanks for this

Evelyn — What a great reading and a perfect one for you! I like the Dana card and the quote, “You have Divine knowledge that can help others through your spiritual teachings.” That is so true of you!!!

My favorite is card deck is the OSHO tarot deck. It’s very gentle and uplifting. I only do readings for myself or friends and I find they seem to be pretty accurate. However, now you’ve got me curious and I will definitely check out the cards by Doreen Virtue. Thank you for telling me about these cards:~)

Evelyn!
The subject of cards and readings keep coming up for me. It is not currently a part of my daily practice..but am rethinking that now.
Someone recently had me draw and animal medicine card. I drew the hummingbird-messenger for joy and laughter into the world. And I was so surprised at the power of its insight.

So here you go, getting me thinking again. I think I may be off to look at some today to see which ones speak to me!

You are awesome.
