What Does Your Inner Money Script Say?

How does your inner money script look like? Does it say: I am a Money Magnet and I attract wealth easily? If it isn’t, let us discuss more about the self talk you have about money today.

i am a money magnet

(Source from my Personal Art Journal: “I am a Money Magnet” drawing)

A confession. For several years, I have had a poor money script. My script has since gone through many changes. In fact, the more I take on the director role of my life, the more I realize the importance of having excellent positive self talk.

I am the director and scriptwriter put together. So I have rewritten my script several times; not necessarily less dramatic in its positive impact but definitely more drama-free. And increasingly, I like my own movie to be an extraordinary one; one of triumph, success and power. And of course, it all starts with a great script.

As a writer to several articles, I would like to think that I know a thing or two about putting thoughts into words. And as a life coach, I also know a thing or two about how to change inner money scripts. But first, I am laying out three money scripts just to check which one you are having…..

Inner Money Script A – The “Poor” Me Script

Inner Money Script A says….

“Money is hard to come by. In order to earn more money, I am thinking that I will just have to work even harder. Then again, I am wondering: how to put in more hours when I am already maxed out?

Times are bad. It says so in the papers. It is better not to spend so that I can save for the rainy day. I should just stick to a 9 to 5 job and be grateful at all that I am employed in times like this.

All this talk about follow your passion and the money will follow? What nonsense! Who ever heard of artists becoming rich? Most don’t! I need to be practical because I have got bills to pay. Passion is for dreamers who will only end up as losers. In a society like ours, we cannot afford NOT to keep up with the Joneses”.

Inner Money Script A was my old script for many years. It had me wallowing in struggle. While I had a great paying job in the bank, the script hardly served me when I decided to become an online business entrepreneur.

Inner Money Script B – The Alignment Script
Money Script B says….

“I am a Money Magnet. I attract wealth easily. Money is as easily available as the air I breath. Whenever I place my attention on money, it shows up in my life experience.

I enjoy the material comforts that money has afforded. I express my gratitude and appreciation for the showers of blessings that money has provided me with. Indeed, whenever I feel good, I have found that alignment with money. Hence my main task every day is to find better-feeling thoughts.”

Money Script B was the script that I wrote after starting on inner alignment work. It was written with the principles of the Law of Attraction in mind, in the style of Abraham Hicks.

Inner Money Script C: The Abundance Script
Money Script C says…

“I like money. I love it. I use it wisely, constructively, and judiciously. Money is constantly circulating in my life. I release it with joy, and it returns to me multiplied in a wonderful way. It is good and very good. Money flows to me in avalanches of abundance. I use it for good only, and I am grateful for my good and for the riches of my mind.”

I borrowed this money script by Dr Joseph Murphy, best-selling author to the book The Power of Your Subconscious Mind. I call this the money script that will help you step out in style.

Your Feedback Please

1. What money script are you having currently – A, B or C?

1. Do you face any issues in rewriting your own script? What are these issues?

3. Do you know how to rewrite your money script? If the answer is no, are you interested to find out more?

Your feedback will be used to develop content that will be geared to what you (as the reader) want to know.

Hi there from across the pond in sunny Spain.

I loved your new scripts. I “think” I am working from my script C, but I am not sure if subconsciously I am still activating my script A. I find it difficult to know which one I am “really” activating. What we want and what the subconscious activates can sometimes be in contradiction to each other. I never have problems re-writing my script but I do have doubts which one I am actually living.

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Vanessa,

A good indicator is your feelings about your life experience. What is life showing you and how is your response to it? Life is an excellent mirror to what is lying in your subconscious. You look at what is happening in the life experiences that show up for you and how you are feeling. In a positive scenario, you are attracting enough money, money comes to you easily. And you feel happy. When you think about your finances, you note that you are not having negative emotions. This is how you can get a good gauge about the thoughts you have on money.

It may well be that you are in-between scripts. Decide once and for all which script you’d rather be having. Then, tell your story the way you want it to be and not as it is, in order to improve on your life situation.

Hope the above helps!

Dear Evelyn,

Thanks a lot for this posting, i really need it right now.
i’m working on script B now. finally step out of 9 to 5 job to do sales job that i always wanted to do. i do have some negative comments from many ppl, as i choose to leave my accounts work to become a recruitment consultant.
i was so glad to read your script C, it is sure something that i would love to work on & thanks for the affirmation, it really lifted my spirit up.

i would like to purchase the “I am the money magnet” coaster.
is it possible to waive off the shipping charges if i were to collect it directly from you? i’m living in Singapore

p/s: thanks for commenting in my blog, it was such an honored.

love & gratitude,
julia

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Julia,

I am glad that you have decided to go for your dream job. I remember considering being a recruitment consultant once. Sounds like fun! Others will always try to prescribe what they think is good for you. Don’t get me wrong. They have every good intention. The challenge in life is to stick to our true path and to be who we are. In self discovery, we create work as an expression of our heart essence.

Thank you for your intent in buying the Money Magnet coaster. Unfortunately, I cannot waive shipping charges….LOL!! I design the products but the items are sold and shipped by the parent company.

Have an awesome week,
Evelyn

Great mantra: “I release it (money) with joy, and it returns to me multiplied in a wonderful way”. Definitely I am adopting this as my script.
Thanks for sharing this.

Evelyn – Love the picture.

Here’s a thought, if you can’t reply to the post. Then you most definitely have a money script that needs changing.

Moving most certainly in the C category right now. It’s not always been easy. Yet the struggle and personal acknowledgement is definitely worth the end result. Life is just so much easier now.

I did lots of work on me and my money stories. The biggest thing I think that helped me and I could really tell was applying EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) to my financial situation and story.

It allowed me, my vision boards and ultimately my bottom line has gone quite frankly through the roof. It certainly wasn’t always like that.

Happy Travels

Note the difference between Scripts B and C. Script C is about the ability to release your attachments to money and your higher service to all humanity.

Greg Blencoe - May 4, 2010

Hi Evelyn,

Thanks for the post.

While this may sound strange, I think my money script is a combination of both Script A and Script B.

I have some limiting beliefs that fit more into Script A. But I also am very grateful for the abundance that I do have in my life. And I think I have a much more positive than negative attitude towards money.

I think the key for me is getting rid of these limiting beliefs, so I can totally have a Script B mindset.

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Greg,

As I have earlier suggested to Vanessa, decide which script you would rather be having. Make the intent to shift. Tell your story the way you want it to be and not as-is.

You don’t “think” that you have “more positive than negative attitude towards money”. You know it. As in any relationship, you know if the other party is a good friend or not. Consider building a healthy relationship with great attitudes towards money. My guess is that you are already on the way there 🙂

Oh yes, the whole point of this post is about removing our limiting beliefs!

I’m probably stuck on A, but seeing them laid out together has motivated again to reach for C.

Thanks and wonderful posting as usual.

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Kenneth,

Doesn’t it make things a lot clearer once we start to articulate our innermost thoughts we have about money in written form? We realize that we had been having an inner conflict….an internal war going on.

All the best in your journey to Script C!

Jim Campbell - May 5, 2010

Evelyn,

Thank you for the terrific post. Like many others I’m working with and towards Scripts B & C but sense that remnants of Script A (past thinking) are still lingering around. I sense there are also some issues of worthiness and deservability involved. The great news is that I feel so much more equipped about identifying what’s going on in my mind now. Should we just ignore the Script “A’s” within us, work with B & C exclusively and A will eventually dissolve? Anxious to hear back.

Thanks again,

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Jim,

For years, I tried to ignore Script A altogether. I thought that “willing” my mind towards positive thinking was the best way to go. Why waste time doing inner release work when I could be spending time doing more productive stuff for instance?

Yet, again and again, Script A would put me in self sabotage. It is like having yourself on brakes, even though you want to press on the foot accelerator of your car to get ahead. You can barely move!!

So no, you cannot simply ignore Script A. Neither should you give it focused energy for it to continuously play out in your life. The best state of mind to lose your resistances with regards to Script A is equanimity.

Hi Evelyn:

Recently, it’s been a combination: 3 parts “A” and 1 part “B”. However, money is finally starting to flow as B and C intimates – it’s taken the physical world some time to “catch up,” but finally it’s manifesting.

Dear Evelyn,

Thank you for your articles, it increases my knowledge and it helped me improve my beliefs. You’re so good.I am a neophyte with regards to computers, I’m still in the learning stage and I know nothing about websites.

My Inner Money Script is not exactly one of the three but a combination of the three. Basically, I’m a religious person and I almost always consult God in everything I do. My desire is to do His will and to be in His good graces although sometimes, human as I am, I fall short.

I am not really hard up but I am not also rich. I love my job because through seventeen years in it,I was able live in my own modest house and lot with nice and beautiful things in it in a safe and sound environment in a good and nice, small city. And I am content with it although I don’t have passive income and depend only on my job which as I learned is not good.I want to invest and have passive income butI don’t know how to go about it. I tried selling stuff but I can’t find enough time for that. But on the whole, I’m content with my life and am happy. One thing also, I have only a very minimal debt because I don’t like to incur debts, I live within my means. I even built my home with my savings and I buy things in cash. I am happy, fulfilled and content with my present life but the future is a different thing. I just trust and hope for good.

More power toyou,

Your pal,

Trust and faith are certainly very essential qualities to a positive outlook!

Hi Evelyn .. as I’m changing my life quite dramatically now – I’ll definitely be incorporating Money Script C or similar into my life .. the relief of just decluttering and clearing out, working towards having a clean slate – has certainly helped with feeling freer .. and thus bringing along the Money Script will be opening the doors to a better future for all – helping others and seeing the happiness provided .. while receiving earth’s abundance as it feels appropriate back ..

Phil - Less Ordinary Living - May 6, 2010

Evelyn –

I really like this article. Money scripts are hardwired into us from early in life and my parents were total subscribers to script A. It has taken me a long time to start breaking that script and tuning into something more like C. I’m still not there and occasionally the old money demons can raise their heads. I try to think of script C in terms of abundance, rather than simply money. There are so many great people out there willing to share and that is part of the overall picture of what we can attract too. I think this article will help a lot of people to see their attitudes clearly – great work.

Barbara Swafford - May 6, 2010

Hi Evelyn,

I was raised with Script A, have shifted toward B, and am working on making Script C my mantra.

I don’t know where I read it, but do remember reading how we shouldn’t say, “I can’t afford that” as it’s sending us the message, “I’m poor”. Now I’m much more careful with those internal conversations.

Thank you for this thought provoking post. 🙂

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Barbara,

It’s great that you are now working on Script C as your mantra. Yes, we need to pay more heed to our internal conversations. Most certainly, they determine our external life experiences.

Evelyn

Annie Stith (Gr8fulAnnie) - May 6, 2010

Hey, Evelyn!

I’m definitely stuck on script A. I was raised in a very poor family where the focus was “you’re lucky you have what you’ve got” and “you don’t deserve more.” I’ve changed many other scripts in my life, but this one feels set in concrete–especially after I began to draw on disability income.

I’ve tried correcting the script when I notice it come up, used affirmations, and journaled the heck out of issues with money. It’s even more important now as I’m starting a blog I expect to be able to monetize in 6 months to a year (depending on how it goes).

What else can I try? From what other angles can I approach my money script?

Annie

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Annie,

I was not raised in a rich family myself but have come to enjoy much abundance. The only thing to truly know if we have shifted our inner scripts is to observe our life experiences. Have your external experiences changed since you rewrote your scripts?

Evelyn

Hello Zengirl,

My post is really about the self talk we have inside. So it may be for money or any other forms of abundance. Or it may be about having balance in our lives. In other words, rewrite your inner script as you deem appropriate to your life situation.

Jason Fonceca - May 7, 2010

Awesome post, Evelyn! Thanks for sharing and inspiring such discussion 🙂

I wrote a post recently about T. Harv Eker’s Financial Blueprints (same thing different name), and I found this coincides nicely, and I’m really glad I stumbled across it.

My personal script is C (slightly different phrasing), and since I adopted it so, so, soooo much good has come my way, at some points the miracles almost ‘hurt’ as my ability to receive them grew and adapted. I feel this concept is something people don’t talk about too often with these scripts:

The adaptation to a new script, even if it’s a script of abundance flowing through you, can still ‘hurt.’ Things can at times feel like too much goodness, too much support, too many fans, too much donations.

To really, really rock script C, the ‘receiving’ and ‘giving’ and flow of money has to FEEL natural. FEEL like breathing (and that’s assuming your breathing is natural and easy.) If there is even slight hesitation, or if you feel the need to make drama out of the flow of funds in your life, then it is life indicating to you that the flow of funds is not so natural yet, in my view.

If the coming and going of funds is natural, easy, and you have no fear and no real desire for it as it is a natural function of YOU, this is ideal. And as always, I remain grateful for every resource I have and every breath I breathe.

Things that are extremely natural may be randomly appreciated and inspiring to others, and I’m not suggesting taking them for granted, but I prefer them to feel similar to breathing air or thinking thoughts or moving body parts — A natural part of life.

For me, the idea behind script C was simply to integrate it into my being as a natural aspect of my self.

I’ve read Abundance Tapestry here and there before (maybe a comment or two), and I really wanted to say that my artistic/creative abilities really really really connect with your awesome personal art journals. What beauty to share.

Thanks so much 🙂

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Jason,

Thank you for sharing your personal experiences with having moved to script C. Thumbs up for making the required integration as a natural aspect of yourself – just like breathing!! There is no hurt, pain or fear.

Patty - Why Not Start Now? - May 7, 2010

Hi Evelyn – I love to come here and see your art. It makes me smile and gives a lift to my day. And about money, I’m not sure any of those scripts fit me. I’m at a place in my life where money just is, and thankfully there isn’t much struggle around it. I accept it for what it is, I think. And for me, the best place to be about money is neutral. Focused neither on scarcity nor abundance. Understanding that abundance comes in other ways, and money is just a byproduct of that. It’s funny, until I read your post I didn’t realize that I actually had a philosophy about money, but I guess I do. So thanks for asking the question!

Chris Edgar - May 8, 2010

Hi Evelyn — For myself, I’ve been noticing some issues in this area recently around the idea “people are bothered whenever I attach a price tag to something.” My sense is that I am just projecting onto other people my own discomfort with asking for things, which in turn comes from a sense that “I have to look like I don’t need anything.” I’ve been looking for opportunities lately to ask for things from other people, and really feel into the discomfort that comes up when I make a request.

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Chris,

Have you tried releasing your emotions with regards to deserving issues? It may just help. Also, refrain from prejudging the situation. Instead, visualize for successful outcome.

I LOVE that picture. Quite often my money script says to me it is frustrated about money. I try and stomp this in the ground and say, “Hey, stop that!”

I think growing up, and for most of my life, I viewed money as something that was supposed to be a struggle to get. So I have a mound of limiting beliefs to get over in that area.

Jeremy Johnson - May 9, 2010

Err, hit submit to soon. To answer your questions:

1. What money script are you having currently – A, B or C?

A tug of war between A and B

1. Do you face any issues in rewriting your own script? What are these issues?

The issue is overcoming 30 years of how I used to view money and overcoming that tendency, along with those around me who view money in a poor and get in debt way.

3. Do you know how to rewrite your money script? If the answer is no, are you interested to find out more?

I don’t have one to be honest and would LOVE to learn more in this area.

Hi Evelyn,

This is my first time on your site and I am already a big fan! I love your content and also the wonderful pictures you have, including your own artwork. I hope it’s ok if I use some of these pictures for my own vision board.

As for the script, I’m somewhere in between B & C. A is not what I would think at all, even though I had worked in banking like you for ten years but have since retired. I’m not where I am financially free as of yet but I know by saying script B & C to myself daily I would have put it out there for me to manifest and incorporate into my own life. Something that I will achieve really soon.
