Be Open to Receiving $10 Million Dollars?

One email jumped out from the rest. I received an email from “Ben S Bernake”, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank. In the message, I found out that I was about to receive $10 million dollars. Under normal circumstances, I would have moved the email right away into my trash can. But this time round, I decided to allow myself some fun in my mental playground.

Law of Abundance: Be Open to Receiving
(Personal album: original photo taken in Tokyo Disneyland; playfully enhanced to go along with this post.)

Here was what the email said….

We received an instructional letter to credit $10.5million to your account

We wish to let you know that all charges are waived for the success of this
contract fund to be credited into your account.

Your respond is required to enable us credit your account without any further
delay and you are also required to get back to us with the reconfirmation
of your banking particulars for we to know if what we have in file is correct and
to avoid crediting your funds to wrong account.

Open To Receiving

My mind toyed around with the idea, “Well what do I know? $10 million dollars in my account? Am I open to receiving such a large sum of money from an unexpected source? Can I assume that it is in US dollars?”

I started to recall about what I know about being open to receiving. According to the Law of Abundance, we must be open to receiving in order to receive more of abundance. If we are unwilling to accept abundance that is readily available to us, we cannot blame the universe or blame God that we are feeling poor. We cannot say that it is anyone’s fault if we do not get to go on a nice beach vacation, sail on a yacht or enjoy profound peace from a meditation session.

Blessings can come in any form. Sometimes it is not what we expect but it may well be what is appropriate to the situation. More likely, we are not going to hear booming voices that we are about to receive manor from heaven. What is necessary is that we remain alert to the gift that is sent our way. It may well be delivered by an earth angel, a lightworker or just about anyone who goes to your aid in response to your asking. Which reminds me about the parable of the drowning man.

Story about Receiving

There was once a man who was stranded on a rooftop due to a flood. He waited for a long time for rescue but no one came. In utter despair, he prayed to God for help.

Not long after, a rowboat came by. The driver shouted to the man on the rooftop, “Jump in, I am here to save you.”

The man on the rooftop declined the offer, “No, it’s OK! I am praying to God and he is going to save me.”

So the rowboat left.

Then, a motorboat came by. The motorboat driver shouted, “Jump in, I can save you.”

Once again, the stranded man responded, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”

The driver of the motorboat could not wait. He had no choice but to leave to rescue others who were stranded.

Finally, a helicopter came by. Its pilot flew the helicopter to a position hovering the stranded man. The pilot threw down a rope and shouted, “Grab the rope. I will lift you to safety.”

Still, the stranded man replied, “No thanks, I’m praying to God and he is going to save me. I have faith.”

The pilot could not do anything if the man refused his help. Reluctantly, he flew the helicopter away.

The water rose above the rooftop. As the man took in his last breath, he felt a sense of disappointment that God had not answered his prayers.

Now, having been pretty pious in his lifetime, the man went to Heaven. He finally got his chance to get an audience with God. The man cried bitterly, “What happened? I had faith in you but you didn’t save me! You have let me drown. I don’t understand why!”

God replied, “I did respond. I sent you a rowboat and a motorboat and a helicopter. What were you expecting?”

Open Alignment with Abundance

How do you know if you are open or not to receiving abundance? Well, if you need some personal examples, here is what my past archives have to say…..

– Difficulty in accepting compliments graciously;
– Difficulty in saying yes to offers for help;
– Difficulty in believing that I deserve something better.

My various difficulties rest on my fears in appearing vulnerable, weak, and dependent. With little understanding about the law of abundance, my paradigm had been one of limitation, lack and separation.

Through working with others recently, I have observed that some of us are open and free with receiving love and connection but find it a challenge to receive money. Others are free to receive money but have a lot of difficulty in accepting money. We turn beet red, mumble on our words or hope that the ground would open to swallow us up when we have to receive something that we feel we do not deserve. We are overcome with shame, embarrassment and guilt. Yet, what do we deserve or not deserve?

We have been taught from childhood that we need to demonstrate our deservingness to earn something. We need to get good grades, have good behavior or look good in order to receive a special reward. While there is nothing “wrong” for caregivers to hang a carrot, the message that invariably gets omitted is about not needing to do anything extra to deserve love. So we grow up, not knowing that we do not need to climb the highest mountains, swim the furthest seas or track through the most perilous jungles in order to receive something as fundamental as what is already our birthright – unconditional love and divine abundance.

We are already abundant. Yet, our experience of abundance is very much dependent on whether we choose to be aligned with it or not. One way to greater alignment is being open to receiving. Alignment simply means being one with. To be aligned with abundance, means that any perception of limitation or lack gets dropped away. Our energy is one of expansiveness; free flowing, light filled, exuberant, creative and loving.

Ready to Receive $10 Million?

Of course, I did not send my bank account number in response to the fictitious email. I would be open to receiving $10million but not if the email is a spoof. Then again, I realized that it did not hurt to have so fun. So I spent the afternoon taking a trip along imagination highway. How would it feel like to be receiving so much money, assuming that it is legitimate? How would I be? What would I do? What would I have?

Over to you. Are you open to receiving? What do you do when you receive emails that promise to send you money if you respond with your bank account details?

Abundance Always,

Interesting email to receive, I bet Ben Bernake is not sending these out.

Okay, if I were to get 10 Mil., I would keep some of debt and kids education and rest I would use for many great causes as following;

Animal Sanctuary
Children education (specially in Africa and Asian Countries)
Clean water for people
Shelters/Food for many people who are going hungry

So much can be done!

Love it Evelyn,
That story about receiving always brings a smile to my face. I always delete those emails and now I am using gmail I don’t see them I realised when I read your post.
Sometimes I recognize I still have work to do on the worthiness of receiving. I do love occasionally visualizing what I would do with a windfall like 10 million- someone here in Australia last week did win 20 million and last I heard they had not claimed the prize:)
I know that having that amount would allow me to travel more and meet all the wonderful like minded friends I have made via the internet. I know it would give me the opportunity to be able help empower so many would be entrepreneurs to be empowered which in turn would empower so many others in their communities. Yesterday I watched a program Seeds of Hope( which again inspired me that the work of Kiva, Grameen bank, See Solutions, etc is what can change the world.

Hi Suzie,

I know. I would have thought that after migrating from yahoo, I would have none of these from gmail.

Hey, it is nice to know that you have got someone near who has won 20 million!! I like your idea about using the money to empower aspiring entrepreneurs. It creates a ripple effect when you use it this way.

I like the concept of Kiva. I am off to view the program that you’ve mentioned about here. Thanks for introducing it to me!

I’m not going to pretend that I don’t spend a lot of time thinking about ways to make or receive more abundance in the form of money, but once in awhile it dawns on me how rich and rewarding my current impecunious circumstances are. They forced me to start my life over from scratch and even find a new career at the age of 60. It’s been a challenge and the challenge isn’t over yet, but progress has been made. This gives me immense satisfaction. I’ve read that many people who win big in lotteries end up more miserable than they were before. It may be a myth, but like many myths, has some wisdom behind it. That said, I’d love to win the lottery and put the myth to the test!

Hello Rob,

I am inspired knowing that life can begin again at any age. It is amazing that you have started something new at the age of 60, even though you were compelled to do so by your circumstances. Stories about ending up more miserable after winning a lottery abound. It does not necessarily have to be the case for anyone who wins the lottery. Having money is not necessarily “evil”.

May your dreams come true!

Your writing about becoming open about accepting is okay. It is true.

Even then we have to remember, this type of emails are spam and are actually sent by so called Nigerian scammers. Now if you respond to these emails to become OPEN (!) to accept abundance, certainly you will be scammed.

We should be open to all true opportunities, not to trap. If anyone throw a trap to you, you must should avoid that. If anyone give you a true opportunity which will help you, be open to accept that.

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Shafiq,

I don’t know if the email came from Nigerian scammers. I am not about to jump to conclusions. I simply did not bother with responding. Rightly said about discerning whether something is an opportunity or a trap.

Hey Mel,

The email that you have received looks vastly similar to an earlier one that I have received too. It’s great that many of us are not falling for such messages. Yes, we need to be open to opportunities that will bring us abundance.

Hi Evelyn,

Great post. I have often wondered about what it would be like to have so much money. I think many of us have resistance to abundance because I think money gets such a bad rap in our society. Then again, I think many of us could use a healthier view of it.

If I had so much money, I would do more to help the world. I would definitely secure my financial future but I don’t need much. I would spend the rest in helping others to have lives that they love.

Hope all is well with you and yours!

Hello Nadia,

I am sure that you would put the money wisely 🙂 It will be wonderful to empower others to lead lives of their desires.

Hi Evelyn .. interesting thought! & that’s about it .. I’d give most of it away – or ensure it went to people who were helping themselves .. to improving projects, or medical assistance and relief aid .. then I’d get working and ensure a legacy for the future ..

Thanks – enjoy the week .. Hilary

Thumbs up to donating to medical relief aid and creating a legacy for the future 🙂

Also I am so impressed that you are turning your gift of art into magnets and tshirts! What an awesome idea.

Congratulation to your contract fund Evelyn! Speaking of gratitude, I realize I am grateful in a sense for spam e-mails, because many of them are amusingly written, and the one you mentioned is no exception. The spam blog comment I’ve been getting a lot recently says simply “be happy ducks.” I don’t know why, but it always gives me a chuckle right before I delete it.

Dear Evelyn,
Love it, and i think like you.
Firstly i would buy a french Chateau i am looking at in the Ardenne! { Pate and Champagne voila!} Good place to vacation during 2012. Then i would take a road trip leaving my wife two children behind for a little while. Collect a young filly {lady] i have been admiring for some time and buy {probably] a maserati Quattro porte and behold a great traditional American Express card.
Then i would hammer through Europe, to the Moulin Rouge! spreading/blasting love and astonishing oppulance to all whom i felt inclined to. Come the evening they would pick me up to bed and i would still cry Salute! Joi de vie!? Life! Life give me life! Everybody loves me. this is who iam . I have never been anyone else. Always and utterly guiltless.
Forever yours .
