How to Develop a Positive Attitude with Meditation – Guest post by Benjamin Norris.

A positive attitude puts you in a more positive vibrational state of being, thereby enabling you to attract success and abundance more easily. One of the most common techniques for developing a positive state of mind is meditation. Meditation offers an excellent avenue for exploring your inner world.

“The mind is everything. What you think you become.” Buddha

There are many different meditation techniques that can specifically assist with the development of a positive mental attitude. Some of the most popular meditations are:
The Mantra Meditation

Mantra meditation involves repeating a set of sounds or chanting a mantra. Mantras are a personal choice. You may want to repeat a sound, such as the word “ohm” which helps to achieve a deep vibration. Or you may want to choose an affirmation such as “I am happy” or “I see the good in everything.” Affirmations work particularly well because you can carry them beyond your meditation into your regular day.

The Mindfulness Meditation

Mindfulness meditation is used to increase awareness. The idea is to completely empty your mind and pay attention to what is happening in the present moment. It can be difficult to clear your mind when you first begin because we rarely quiet our minds in our daily lives. But with practice you will get better at it and will learn to do it at will, even throughout your regular days. Mindfulness meditation promotes enjoying what is going on in your life in each exact moment instead of thinking negative thoughts from the past or getting hung up on worries about the future.

Focused Meditation

In focused meditation you choose a thought and give it your complete attention. For example, you may choose “I am peaceful.” You then embrace the thought with your whole mind and body, really feeling it with all of your senses. This is good practice for focusing on positive feelings as you go about your day and experiencing them completely.

Use Meditation Audio

No matter which meditation technique you choose, it’s important to incorporate your favorite meditation audio, such as Omharmonics to your session. Meditation audio helps tremendously in by drowning out mental chatter, and transporting your mind to a state or tranquility and relaxation more quickly. To increase the benefits of meditation even further, try meditation music that’s enhanced with binaural beats like Omharmonics, which work with your brain wave patterns to create positive outcomes such as increase focus and enhanced learning capability.

Meditation Tips

No matter which meditation you choose, you can benefit from the following list of tips.

1. Create an atmosphere that makes you comfortable. This can include comfortable clothing, candles, incense, and calming meditation music.
2. Make sure you choose a time when you are alone and there is no chance that you will be interrupted.
3. Sit with your legs crossed and your arms open. You want to be open to the meditation in body and mind.
4. Breathe deeply and release. A good breathing count is 6 seconds in through the nose, hold for three, and 6 seconds out through the mouth.
5. Spend about 15-20 minutes once a day in meditation.

After you complete your meditation, spend some time processing the experience. It can be helpful to record your feelings in a journal. That will help you to see the correlation between meditation, a positive mindset, and the events that unfold in your life.

I’ve only been meditating for a few months now, but I can’t put into words how much my life and my attitude have changed because of it. I usually listen to meditation podcasts that help me focus on positive thinking, building trust and excitement for the future. I swear that I would never have believed that something could have such a big positive impact on my life. I’m definitely a meditation convert. 🙂

Very insightful post Benjamin! Just living in the present moment can free you from all suffering. All meditation techniques do only one thing. They make you more alert and bring you back to the present moment. In the present moment there is no mind and that’s why there is no suffering.

It’s very hard to control your mind and be in present.Meditation enables us to calm our mind and focus on our thoughts.I do chant regularly morning and evening and I feel energetic, calm and composed.
