Recipe for Success: Help Me to Cook

Recipe for Success

I am updating the recipe for success after receiving great feedback from many friends. The original recipe was great but after experimenting, I found out that we can also take fewer steps. The end result is just as delicious if not more!

According to a rumor that appears to originate from one of the Le Cordon Bleu schools, the recipe for success has already been cooked to perfection by various renowned chefs. It seems that there can be different ingredients and ways of cooking for the same dish. Consequently, the results can be as varied and flavorful; producing unique palate experiences.

Don’t laugh but here is the secret that I found out from inside sources of award-winning culinary chefs: the ones that win rave reviews are those that strangely create in their consumers……the miraculous effect of balancing their chakras and sending them on an instantaneous flight to heaven, with just a single bite.

It tastes really good!!!(Photo of my daughter, Min, having her first lesson in cooking).

Indeed, the pinnacle of success is the glorious moment when mind, body and spirit connects. It is the moment of awakening to the pleasures of living. Thereafter as the food melts in our mouth, we experience tingling waves of pleasurable sensations throughout our entire body.

Now, if you have watched the animated show Ratatouille, it is the exact moment where the notoriously hard-to-please food critic “The Grim Eater” takes his first bite in a home cooked dish made by Remy, the aspiring chef (which happens to be a rat). It hits home for the food critic, reawakening a pleasant reminder from childhood. It is food for the soul!

In the same manner, the dish success leaves a tantalizing but lingering memory in our taste buds even way after we had digested the gastronomical delight. Success becomes a lasting legacy, a tribute to the chef who put every heart and soul to its creation. And it can be yours too!

The Recipe for Success Ingredients

Shopping for Ingredients

What is the recipe for successful achievement?
To my mind there are just four essential ingredients:
choose a career you love, give it the best there is in you,
seize your opportunities, and be a member of a team.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

To cook an excellent meal, the best quality ingredients are obviously needed. We cannot afford to go cheap, quick or convenient. Best if we can get the ingredients direct from source. We don’t want use ingredients that are toxic or hormone-injected, by any chance. Neither do we want to buy them from manufacturers or producers who are not of pure intent. We also want our ingredients to come from sustainable farming.

Success is conventionally cooked with the ingredients of goal setting, detailed mission planning, motivation and so on. Still, I am going to lay out my interpretation for a standard recipe for success. The ingredients are:

A slice of dream.
A dash of inspiration.
A can of courage.
One therapeutic long-lasting fragrant wine remedy called love.
Two squirts of creative juice.
Three pinches of perseverance.
Loads of smiles.
Sprinklings of Joy.

Instructions For Recipe for Success

Chopping Ingredients

1. Remove the frozen packet marked “dream” on its plastic cover from the freezer.
2. Place dream in a big mixing bowl and defrost overnight to room temperature.
3. Remove the black seeds found on the slice of dream. These are seeds of fear.
4. Pour in the therapeutic wine remedy called love.
5. Heap spoonfuls from the can of courage into the mixing bowl. The number of spoonfuls should correspond with the amount that you need.
6. Mix contents in the bowl thoroughly with loads of smiles.
7. Transfer the contents from the mixing bowl into a pan and turn on heat.
8. Add a dash of inspiration, two squirts of creative juice and three pinches of perseverance.
9. Bring to boil and continue to stir until there is a superbly delicious smell.
10. Garnish Success with sprinklings of joy on a plate.

Finally, celebrate Success with wine and flowers.

Secret Winning Formula to Recipe for Success

Secret Sauce If you have cooked before, you would know that following a recipe may not necessarily produce the same taste eventually. Not even if it is a recipe by famous celebrity chef such as Jamie Oliver. I dare say it is likely to be the same with cooking “success”.

Because of this, I believe that while it helps to follow a standard recipe, you will still have to find your best winning formula!

So here I am; still working on perfecting my secret recipe, spending hours in experimentation. I am hoping to make my recipe for success unique.

I wouldn’t mind having some help, though 🙂 If you know of an ingredient or a step that I am missing, feel free to share. Who knows? Your contribution may be just what is needed in a whole new way of cooking success.

Wishing you much success in the kitchen of life!

Abundance always,

Evelyn Lim

Hi Evelyn .. great picture of Min – talk about vitality!!

Interesting what you say the great chefs weave for their customers/consumers .. a friend was saying that the English if they taste something good .. make expressive noises .. mmm, oooh … this is sooooo delicious … ooh what flavours …. you get what I mean! I guess we must do – because both she and I were expressing ourselves with delight.

I have to say that meal – I had in London .. and I’m tempted to go back when I’m in London this week .. I’m sure it wasn’t the best meal around .. but I enjoyed it – it was Greek!! But we had noodles for lunch with a tasty sauce, salad and fish pieces ..

I love the rest of the post – just got to it!! the creation of a recipe for success .. you’re a great tapestry weaver .. and I’d add .. the vitality of two daughters!!

Love this .. thanks brilliant gave me a good feel good factor .. have a great week .. Hilary

Hi Hilary,

Do the English really make expressive noises than the rest of the nationalities? I haven’t quite noticed. I must be more observant the next time I have friends over from yonder!

I had previously tasted some of the best foods in London; Thai and North Indian. You’re so lucky to be able to go back for another meal!

Yes, yes, I am very blessed. My two girls keep me young and dancing!!

Glad to know that you’ve enjoyed my post!!

Have a wonderful week ahead,
Evelyn

Nicely done, Evelyn! I’ve noticed that when I include a dash of laughter in my secret sauce, whatever I’m cooking up seems to get done much faster than I’d expected. X

I like that, Margaret! I actually have a barrel of laughter in my secret sauce but was wondering if it would be too much. Hmm… a dash of laughter may be just right…I’m going to try that and see if it works out well! Thanks for the tip!!

Every success to your dish!

Evelyn –

Love this post! So much fun and pleasure to read. I’m always experimenting with the special sauce – that’s what makes the very best and most appetizing food of all. I’m finding it’s not always the most obvious of ingredients either. Sometimes it is something really simple or obscure that can transform life into something truly delicious. Great stuff!

Hello Phil,

Good luck with your experimentation! I have found that I have made all kinds of mistakes in my own kitchen. However, the mistakes are very necessary because I kept missing the point…LOL! Yes, it’s true. Sometimes the ingredients can really be so simple; yet we cannot see it at first.

Wishing you every success,
Evelyn

This is a very creative dish Evelyn. I myself am now cooking my success recipe, but long before I started cooking I have discovered that I need to ready myself for the challenges it entails, otherwise I would be easily defeated if unfavorable circumstances hinders my effort.

The seed of success will always germinate from within. 🙂

You’ve made an excellent point, Walter. I have a tendency to just go for adventures, not realizing that inner preparation is half the battle won. The result is the repeated need to backtrack. I now look upon my “failures” as feedback opportunities for greater success.

Wishing you every success in your endeavors,
Evelyn

Evelyn, this was a most creative way to endear us to creating a meal with love and consideration and I am very impressed by your little girl…..! Beautiful post. I do not cook at home – I make killer salads but that is all – since my husband has taken an interest to cooking and has now turned it into a borderline obsession….I just have to eat a lot :)))!! Great story here, thank you!

Hi Farnoosh,

You made me laugh when I thought about you having to eat a lot..LOL! Most certainly, we need to show support for the cook.

I love salads btw. I have them solely almost every other day for lunch.

Patty - Why Not Start Now? - October 30, 2010 Reply

This is delightful, Evelyn! Especially because I’ve been taking the time to cook a lot more these days. Allowing myself to sink into it and really savor the process. So the savoring would be part of my recipe for success-making: stopping frequently along the way and experiencing the sensations of it. The taste, smell, look, feel, sounds of the sauce as it bubbles away.

[Reply]

Evelyn Reply:

Hi Patty,

Savoring sounds like a good tip to apply in the kitchen of success! I love the idea of experiencing the wonderful sensations along the way. The sauce will be a wonderful brew, I’m sure! Thank you for sharing the tip 🙂

Hi Evelyn — the introduction is definitely a great reminder to be patient and stay the course — this reminds me of how it’s time to get back in to leading in-person workshops, which I shelved for a few months because I had trouble finding attendees for the most recent one. But if I try to do it again, I’m sure I can find a way.

You’ll do great!! Let me know if you need assistance on creating greater awareness on social media. I’d be happy to help!
