10 Sure-Fire Tips To Making Creative Visualization Fun!

creative visualization mind

There are several things that you can do to make your creative visualization sessions fun. You already know how important it is to use the power of pictures to assist in manifestations. However, if you have left your creative mind languishing for a long time, you may just need a little help in getting started. A little imagination can go a long way in making visualizing exercises fun-filled….and far from boring.

I have put together 10 sure-fire tips to help you have lots of fun in your creative visualisation sessions:

Creative Visualization Tip #1: Spark Off From A Single Idea.

You do not need to have a very clear picture at first. Starting off with a single idea is fine. Just follow your heart and see where it leads you. Allow your imagination some freedom as you follow your heart. Do not over-think or analyse. Nor feel like you have to restrict yourself when visualising the things you want.

If you wish to have a cottage in the mountains, picture yourself working in your pristine garden outside of your home. Like to lose weight? Picture how many heads you will turn when you sashay down the street with your new toned body. And if you are dreaming of going back to school, do not just picture a diploma – instead, visualise yourself in the graduation ceremony receiving an award for outstanding student.

Creative Visualization Tip #2: Set Aside Time.

Up till now, you have not set aside a small part of your day for visualizing and daydreaming. As a productive and valued citizen of modern society, you have previously viewed activities such as these a waste of time. After all, what direct benefits can you show for when you allocate time for creative visualizations?

This line of thinking is far from the truth. When you understand how thoughts become reality, you will realize how important it is to schedule time aside for visualization and visioning work.

In fact, giving your creative mind playtime is important. When you apply concepts that are aligned with the natural laws of attraction, you will find manifesting what you desire less of a struggle. Hence, far from being wasted, the minutes you allocate to doing creative visualizations can be highly effective.

Hence, become less in resistant in having to allocate time. Allow yourself the mental space to relax and play. Spending some time even as little as ten minutes each day can draw great benefits.

Creative Visualization Tip #3: Relax into your session.

Even though you may have allocated time, it is hard to have a good visualization exercise if you are feeling uptight. Start by making yourself comfortable. Once you start to go deeper into relaxation, you will be far more able to invoke the powers of your creative abilities. You are more likely to have fun in a relaxed rather than an uptight state.

Creative Visualization Tip #4: Break Down Your Mental Image.

From a single mental picture, give your imagery more sizzle by making your descriptions more vivid. Add more details. For instance, fill the picture of a beautiful garden paradise with smiling flowers, singing birds, a cascading waterfall and lush greenery. Enhance it further by visualizing fluttering fairies, talking squirrels , giant mushrooms, magical lanterns and sparkling stars that fly in the breeze.

Creative Visualization Tip #5: Tell A Story.

Instead of a single static picture, make it a moving story. Visualize yourself living your dreams. Here are some prompts: How are you being? What are you doing? What are you having? Allow your creative mind a canvas to have some fun!

Creative Visualization Tip #6:  Use Metaphors.

Incorporate metaphors into your stories. Metaphors are a way of describing something by relating it to another similar thing, idea or concept. For instance, if you are envisioning transformation, a suitable metaphor is imagining a butterfly. If you are envisioning love and transformation, create a story with yourself as Cinderella. If you are envisioning magic, see yourself as Merlin in the land of Camelot. Adding metaphors is introducing fun!

Creative Visualization Tip #7: Visualize in Different Ways.

While says you have to visualize the same thing over and over again in a repetitive boring manner? When it comes to creative visualization, there’s only one rule: anything goes!

Now how can you visualize in different ways? Say you are working on visualizing the perfect job. Script One can have you picturing the ideal work environment you are in. Script Two can have you telling your friends about how much you love your job. Script Three can have you getting dressed to go to work and feeling excited about what is to come. Script Four can have you in tears of joy, receiving tons of awards and compliments from your fan club – oh yes, you have a worldwide fan base alright! And so on and so forth. Get the idea?

Creative Visualization Tip #8: Feel. Feel. Feel.

When you connect with your feelings, your mental pictures become alive. Do not just create imagery without aligning with your heart’s desires. When you are connected through your heart center, your mental screen lights up with color, vibrancy and possibility.

Creative Visualization Tip #9: Acting What-If.

You are already aware that creative visualization draws its powers from your ability to picture the image of your dream goal, like a romantic partner or losing those stubborn pounds. Most certainly, you do not have to lock yourself in a room and meditate in order to give those images real power – instead, act out your goals!

Here are some examples. Dreaming of a lucrative investment portfolio? Go meet with a financial advisor. Need to lose weight? Photoshop a picture of yourself two sizes down wearing the dress you see at the window of your favorite shop. Want to buy a new Victorian home? Go to an open house and take pictures. It is a fun way to give your visualization time vivid and powerful imagery!

Creative Visualization Tip #10: Share In A Group.

Group energy can add not just fun but more power! Some classes take you on guided imagery sessions. You turn your creative visualization into social events. The advantage is getting connected with a group of like-minded folks who are more likely to encourage you in your dreams.

Hi Evelyn,

So good to see your posts – always so positive and helpful. I notice you’re including personal pictures much more recently, and appreciate your sharing of your personal life with us. I feel better every time I visit here.

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Daphne,

Oh yes, it takes me more time to publish a post with my own pictures but I resonate with the idea about demonstrating creativity. As you can see, many of my own pictures are not works of art. The intent is to simply show how I can uniquely express by interweaving various parts of myself into most parts of what I do and not just through published words.

I am still very much a work-in-progress. I am a student of learning. I continue to learn from everyone and everything around me. Thank you for your encouragement and words of wisdom. It is wonderful having your support 🙂

Abundance always,
Evelyn

Thanks! I believe that visualization is only as good as the way you actually do it. And I put a lot of emphasis in making it as vivid and clear as possible. But this does take practice and an effective visualization technique.

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Eduard,

It certainly does take practice. The more we keep to it, the more we become good at it.

Good for you in making yours as vivid as you can!

Hi Evelyn,

This is an area I’m beginning to become more interested in and your tips are spot on. I like what you said about there not being steadfast rules for visualizing. For some reason, I thought it had to be done in a “certain” way.

#9 also captured my attention. I like the suggestions you provided. Now I’m thinking of others that can help me in my journey, too.

Have a great week. 🙂

Hello Barbara,

How wonderful that you are beginning to be interested in this area too! I am happy to know that you have found the tips useful!

I wish you every success in your visualization journey!

Hi Evelyn .. it’s something I must bring into my life .. to a point I do it with my posts .. as they incorporate quite a lot .. but I need it for me too .. once I’ve moved, decluttered .. then these things and creative visualisations will creep in.

Hi Evelyn

Great post today and alway good to get a reminded. Taking time out for our own visualisation is key. I know there are many books that support this process but your 10 steps are simple and a get start. I will pass onto a friend James Martin who has taught in this field and hope he subsribes to your site.
Also the Traveler’s Gift written by Andy Andrews is a good read.
Kind Regards

Evelyn –

Excellent guide to visualization. I love using stories and metaphors, they are so powerful. I like to help people develop their story about how life can be rich and full. What is remarkable is how when they take the time and enjoy this process, it is almost always within reach. Great stuff – thank you.

Chris Edgar - June 17, 2010

Hi Evelyn — I particularly liked what you said about our tendency to see moments of “inactivity” as a waste of time. If I’m feeling creatively blocked, my immediate urge is usually to run off and do something else to make sure I maximize what I get done. But if I become willing to sit with that emptiness, it often dissolves and I’m rewarded with the inspiration I want.

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Chris,

Great point about choosing the “Being” over the “Doing” when we find ourselves blocked creatively!

Evelyn

Sara - June 17, 2010

Evelyn,

While I loved all the suggestions and agree about the importance of creative visualizations, the line that caught my eye in this post was:

“In fact, giving your creative mind playtime is important.” I love the idea of “mind playtime.” It sounds FUN and I like fun. I think as adults, we too often attribute playing with “not working.” I liked how you showed that creative visualizations can be fun and productive.

I’m really glad I visited today. I think you’ve been some excellent “playtime” ideas. Thank you:~)

Hi Sara,

Jason Fonceca - June 18, 2010

Gahhh… so good, Evelyn. Thank you 🙂 Tip #2 could be a whole book by itself, lol. The big cities I’m familiar with all can’t find a second to breathe, let alone minutes to visualize, but then… their creativity is often stunted 😀

(Looks like Chris felt that one too 😉
Rock on!

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Jason,

Oh yes, I am thinking of writing a book on this very topic! It seems that more of us need to be reminded how to give ourselves playtime….LOL!!!

Rock on too, my friend!!

Zengirl @ Heart and Mind - June 18, 2010

Evelyn,

Creativity is letting your mind open to beyond what you can see. When I am working with my preschooler, he amazes me, as he can see things in ways I can not. I just have to make sure that I can encourage this imagination and learn from him.

Thanks for imaginative post.

Evelyn Reply:

Hello Zengirl,

We can learn so much from our children. Just watching them play can help us with many creative ideas for ourselves. Most certainly, it will help to connect with our “inner child” for imagination, creativity and possibility!!

So true! I had thought before having a child that I will teach him/her this and that. How wrong I was, now he is teaching me 🙂 I am happy to learn!

Hi Evelyn,
I love this: “Allow your imagination some freedom as you follow your heart” I think perhaps it is my life’s motto:)
My young son is amazing at manifesting..and I believe the key is that he doesn’t question the power in it…and he actually sees himself doing/being/experiencing..what he is manifesting. He takes it that extra step so that it is real for him, with no doubt.. *That* is ultimate fun…knowing that life is *magical* indeed:) You have shared some great tips with your readers, thank you!

Evelyn,

Do you utilize creative visualization sessions as a way to keep focused on goals? In other words, is it a method to maintain focus on goals and dreams as men and women aspire to achieve them? Or are there different intentions?

anyone heard of Jack Black? 10 years ago i used his visualisation techniques when i was young and would belive in anything. as i get older i feel more sceptical even though i have decent examples of this working.I have done very limited visualisation but still got great results – sometimes it took up to a year for my goal to materialise and sometimes it would take days! would love to hear motivational things to get me back into this. i think if people shared their stories of success (and non successful) it would inspiring.
