A Guide to Living Holistically in Health and Wealth

Many people like to point out that health is wealth. It is true. Without good health, you will not feel well enough to get to work or run a business. However, may I add that the saying does not suggest that wealth is not important either. In fact, without money, it will not be possible to pay for medical bills or insurance. Also an adequate level of income is needed if you wish to afford products or services that promote a sense of well-being; beyond the minimum that meets day-to-day living needs.

To live holistically, in today’s society, we need both health and wealth. We need them together at the same time to achieve an optimal health/wealth balance. To strive for wealth at the expense of health is likely to show up in increased stress levels and diseases that develop over time. To neglect wealth totally is also not a good idea either.

So, health and wealth are related. We can strive to integrate both aspects into our lives. Here are 3 ways to living holistically in both health and wealth:

(1) Cultivate Healthy Habits

Whether it is for health or wealth, cultivating healthy habits is important.

In terms of health, avoid all forms of addictions such as drinking, smoking and taking drugs. Reduce your consumption of junk food. Poor diet can take a toll on your body over the long term. Make healthier choices such as organic fruits and non-GMO foods. I am not sure how it is like in your country. But in Singapore, where I come from, organic foods usually cost a premium. However, I find that it is worth paying for them even though they are at a premium because you are nourishing or investing in your greatest asset (body health).

In terms of wealth, cultivate habits such as creating a savings plan, financial budgeting and reading books that will expand your financial knowledge eg. portfolio management.

(2) Make Holistic Healing A Part of Your Life

Holistic comes from the Greek word “halos”, which means whole. Holistic medicine is a practice of medicine that treats the body, mind and spirit. With taking a holistic perspective, you are not just treating the disease but you are also healing the person as a whole. In fact, you are aiming to address the root cause of the health problem.

What I like about holistic healing is that it rests on basic principle that your body is capable of healing itself. The methods and applications used are natural and they serve to facilitate the restoration of balance and harmony. Hence, the treatment approach is very different from western medicine, which focuses on treating outward symptoms of a disease with drugs and surgery.

My suggestion is to consider allocating part of your money in alternative or natural healing rather than just taking western medication. When I was first introduced to alternative healing, I was very resistant. It felt non-scientific and therefore, dubious. However, after I started opening my mind and trying out various forms of natural therapy, I was sold. My conviction was based on a number of experiential-findings.

When you make holistic medicine a part of your life, you are attesting to “prevention is better than cure”. Hence, you do not wait till illness or diseases start to show up before you undertake healing measures. Instead, you allocate a part of your monthly budget for spending on wellness on a regular basis. Options like massage therapy to alleviate stress levels and using pure essential oils to bring about balance are great ones to take!

(3) Practice Yoga

Years ago, my kundalini yoga teacher taught me that yoga is a great way to build mind-body-spirit connection, which generates great results such as for the purpose of attracting wealth.

If you don’t already know, yoga is an Indian practice that is over 5000 years old. Yoga poses, or asanas, are combined with individual breathing exercises in order to harmonize the body. This helps to improve the mind-body connection.

When combined with spiritual meditation, yoga enhances the energy flow within your body. Your energy levels go up. You feel great and your vibrational state rises; thus enabling you to attract greater prosperity.

Build Health and Wealth Assets

When you invest in healthy choices, you gain in improved health. With great health, you have the foundation to build wealth. You are able to grow your monetary assets because your mind is sharp, clear and focused and your body is free from physical ailments.

And it all comes back to you. With great wealth, you can afford to make better and better lifestyle choices. You are beaming in a state of abundance.
