10 Insights Into The Power Of Thoughts

power of thoughts

Harness the power of thoughts so that you can create the life that you want. Your every thought is a statement of your desires to the Universe. You are a product of all the thoughts, feelings and experiences you have had until now. In the same manner, whatever thoughts you have now are going to influence your tomorrow. This being the case, you need to be very aware about the thoughts that run in your head. By not taking charge of your mind, you may just attract circumstances that are contrary to what you truly desire.

(I am updating this article of its old links – hence, I am republishing it today :-))

how to be bold

On the plus side, if you can exercise great control in what or the way you think, you can begin to attract resources from the Universe, to make your dreams come true. For today, let’s examine 10 truths about the power of thoughts, so that you can set leverage on your mind effectively:

1. Thought is spiritual energy.

Thoughts are often depicted in a cloud of ideas coming out from your head. In reality, thoughts are measurable units of energy. They are waves of energy that penetrate through time and space. Your energy field changes constantly, based on the vibrations that you project.

Thought is also spiritual energy as well. Your soul is a part of the Universe or Spirit or God. Your soul or “I” is what lies within you. Universe / Spirit / God is creative and thought is creative. Your soul expresses itself through thought. It seeks to create in the essence of love. Sorrow, misery, fear and unhappiness are thoughts and emotions that limit and subtract. Hence, in its purest definition, thought can be said to be of spiritual energy.

2. You Create Through Thought.

You are always creating through your thoughts. In fact, you create the reality that you are in right now. You cannot stop the process of creation. The Law of Attraction is the law that explains this creation. Understanding this law allows you to create anything that you desire.

The Law of Attraction explains that like attracts like. Positive energy attracts positive energy. Negative energy attracts negative energy. The Universe responds to these energy vibrations. It does not decide for you what you need. In fact, it just responds to what you sent out.

In short, when you exude positive energy such as joy, you are more likely to attract favorable circumstances. On the other hand, when you exude negative energy such as worry, you tend to attract situations of lack, not enough money and so on.

“You are a creator; you create with your every thought. You often create by default, for you are getting what you are giving your attention to wanted or unwanted but you know by how it feels if what you are getting (creating) is what you are wanting or if it is not what you are wanting”. Abraham Hicks

3. Your Outer World Is A Mirror of Your Inner Thoughts.

If your thoughts are often rooted in fear, your outer world will be one of endless struggles, lack of opportunity and poverty. On the contrary, if your thoughts are rooted in love and abundance, your outer world is one of unlimited possibilities, richness and beauty.

Every thought is a cause and every condition an effect. Most people try to change their outer world with more effects. However, it is a mere exchange of one form of misery to another. Nothing positive has really happened! They do not realise that change is most powerful when it comes from within.

4. Vibration Is The Action of Thought.

Each thought resonates a certain vibrational frequency, through emotion. When your thoughts go “I like this”, “it tastes good” or “I am abundant”, the vibration is positive. When your thoughts are “I hate this”, “I am no good” or “it is difficult”, the vibration is negative.

A thought that “I am awesome” compared to “I am good” has a different emotional charge to it. The same can be said of a negative thought. A thought that says “I feel downright depressed” compared to “I am sad” vibrates at a more negative frequency. Obviously when you change the thought and in various degrees, you can effect a change in the energy vibration felt throughout your body. Hence, adjust the power of thoughts appropriately to bring you closer to what you want.

5. Thoughts Vibrate Either Love or Fear.

Every human thought is based in either love or fear. The two emotions, fear and love, form the language of the soul. The emotions carry the thought out into the Universe.

Unfortunately, most of us are not aware that we attract our struggles and hardships because of our base emotions behind the root thought. In Conversations with God Book One, this root thought is described as the Sponsoring Thought. It is the thought that drives human motivation. The Sponsoring Thought is either a thought of love or fear. It is the thought behind the thought behind the thought. “It is the raw energy that drives the engine of human experience.”

Hence, in evaluating the outcomes that you are experiencing right now, you need to uncover what your Sponsoring thought is. Its vibrational resonance is what determines the reality of your current experience.

“When you are having a hard time making yourself do something, or when the action you offer does not produce the results you are seeking, it is always because you are offering thoughts in opposition to your desire.”
— Abraham

6. Power lies in The Concentration of Pure Thoughts.

Since like energy attracts like energy, they “stick together”. This happens when you concentrate hard. Matter forms out of pure energy. Once matter forms, it remains as it is for a long time. It is removed only when there is an opposing set of destructive energy.

We harness the power of concentration, when we hold a thought in pure intention for at least 17 seconds. The key is that it must be clear and strong; that is, with no interfering or sabotaging thoughts or intent. So the longer that we can persist in our concentration and attention, the greater will be the vibrational force that can bring our thought into manifestation.

7. Power Lies in Thoughts From The Subconscious Mind.

Your conscious mind is limited. It is your subconscious mind, which is more powerful. It is where the Sponsoring Thought lies. If you rely on using your conscious mind alone, you are operating below your fullest potential.

Thoughts in your subconscious mind can sabotage what lies in your conscious. For instance, the hidden thought that you may not be good enough can derail the positive intentions you may have about your work. Your potential for greatness becomes severely compromised.

Methods that are helpful in accessing your subconscious mind include meditation, lucid dreaming, and hypnosis. You can also make use of the power of thoughts with positive daily affirmations, subliminal messaging and/or brainwave entrainment.

8. Thoughts influence your body.

Your body reacts to your thoughts. Lie detector tests are developed, based on this fact. If you asked to confess to a secret to which you have outwardly lied about, you start to sweat profusely, your blood pressure goes up and your heart starts to beat faster. These signs prove that every single cell of your body is affected by the increased rate of emotional response caused by the thoughts in your head.

“I admit thoughts influence the body.”
— Quote by Albert Einstein

Hence, it is not inconceivable to believe that ill health or diseases are first caused by toxic thoughts. Toxic thoughts weaken you and send out a negative energy vibration, causing you to attract the very experience that you wish to avoid but have unconsciously focused upon.

Conversely, positive thoughts make you feel relaxed and less tense. They invoke the release of endorphins, reducing pain and increasing pleasure. You envelope yourself in positive energy, that attracts better outcomes into your life. The power of thoughts can bring about physical wellness!

9. Beliefs Are Habitual Thoughts.

Many of us often stubbornly hold on to our beliefs. We identify so much with them; that we feel threatened if others challenge them. Even if there is that little niggling doubt, we choose to hang on to them. We fear being stripped naked should our beliefs get de-throned. Yes, many of us go to the extent of worshiping our beliefs.

But what if the belief is not true? What if the belief is a lie that someone else has told you? What if this belief is one that limits and prevents you from being the person that you can truly be? Beliefs that do not help include inner talk like “I am not good enough”, “I do not deserve to have money”, or “others are born with better luck than me”.

In reality, beliefs are habitual thoughts. Most of them have been formed since young. Since they began in a thought, you can always change this thought from a negative one. Most certainly, harness the power of thoughts positively!

10. Intuition arises in the Silence Between Thoughts.

Intuition often arises when you are silent; that is in present moment awareness. It arises in the gaps, the space in between your cluttered thoughts. It comes only when your mind is at ease. Intuition often offers the creative solution, that your conscious mind cannot address to your problems at hand. It is the product of your subconscious mind.

Devote an amount of time each day to sitting in Silence. Meditation is a training that your mind needs, to practice present moment awareness. The more you practice, the greater will be your ability to access your intuitive abilities.

Conclusion

You could have been oblivious to the power that you have. It is time to take control; for the ability to create a better world for yourself lies in your thoughts.

Understanding the power of thoughts can help you with an energy shift. Through awareness, you get into a positive state of being. You begin to attract abundance, the birthright of your Soul.

Love and Abundance Always,

Evelyn Lim

I never heard of thought as spiritual energy before. I like that. A lot.

Evelyn - August 18, 2008

Hi WriterDad, thought as spiritual energy is mentioned in the book The Master Key. You may want to read it 🙂

Flora Morris Brown, Ph.D. - August 18, 2008

Since the time several decades ago that I learned that we attract our own struggles and create our own lives I have worked to harness my thought for good. I’m happy to report that I have attracted wonderful experiences, people and things into my life.

Because I’m human I still work daily to maintain positive vibrations and manifest even more wonderful experiences. Thanks for these insights. They have already helped me deepen my practice. I love the 17 sec intention hold. That’s powerful!

Brennan Kingsland - August 18, 2008

Isn’t it wonderful that more and more people are beginning to understand the truths behind life and energy? No matter whether you call it Quantum Physics, or New Age, or whatever, the vibrations of many individuals are increasing at an incredible rate.

There is hope!

Mark McCullagh - August 18, 2008

The theory that our beliefs influence our feelings and actions is not new.

This viewpoint was put forward over two thousand years ago by the stoic philosopher Epictetus and his student Marcus Aurelius.

I often find it funny how this theory has been repackaged and sold as “The Law of Attraction”.

Hunter Nuttall - August 18, 2008

@ Evelyn, I love #8 (the lie detector). It’s a very clear, obvious example of how thoughts influence reality. I’m going to hold on to that for future reference!

@ Mark, I’m not sure why you find that funny. If there are people out there today claiming to have invented the law of attraction, that’s clearly not true. Is that what you’re saying?

Stacey / CreateaBalance - August 18, 2008

“Through awareness, you get into a positive state of being” — that is my favorite quote from your post. I’m not perfect at always remembering to focus my thoughts on awareness (especially if I’m feeling frustrated or upset)…but when I do remember, it always shifts my sense of reality and brings about a refreshing sense of being.

Vered - August 18, 2008

It is so true that thoughts – positive or negative – have the power to influence not just our mind, but also our body.

I think it’s been proven that stress can make people sick.

Al at 7P - August 18, 2008

OK, now I’m more resolved to read the Law of Attraction. The article you wrote seems to cover more than what’s in the book – i’m thinking about #7 (subconscious) in particular – but clearly the book does cover some of the key points.

Evelyn - August 18, 2008

@Flora, it’s great that you have understood these several decades ago and have been successfully applying the principles. I first heard about the 17 second hold from The Silva Method. Subsequently, I believe that the Esther Hicks also talked about a 17 or 68 seconds hold for the Law of Attraction to work.

@Brennan, I get that sensing too!! It has already been “predicted” in a way, isn’t it? The year 2012 will see a spiritual awakening in world consciousness. Up to 2012, more and more people will start to awakened from being unconscious for a long time.

@Mark, you are right to point out that many people including philosophers and Napolean or Buddha already knew about its principles. Well, even if it is being repackaged, there is no denying that the increased publicity in recent years has impacted the lives of thousands or maybe millions. While I generally understood the principles of positive thinking, it was after being watching the Secret, that I committed to investigating all that has been said. I can only testify that it has been an amazing journey so far!!

Evelyn - August 18, 2008

@Hunter, I’m glad you found what I said useful. By all means, hold on to it and remind others about it through your writings.

@Stacey, same here too….LOL!! This practice of constant awareness can be tiring but my gut tells me to stick to it.

@Vered, Oh…I’ve got a number of stories to share about healing without the use of drugs too. I use them on my kids too!

@Al, do go ahead and read the book. What’s more important is that after reading, to apply what you’ve learnt. Just like any other goal to work towards, successful application can only be made with practice, practice, practice!

Davina - August 18, 2008

They say that we only use about 10% of our brain’s capacity. Maybe this won’t change until we learn how to work more positively with our thoughts.

If we appear to have such great challenges with only 10%, imagine if we had more to work with? Wow! I suppose that exercising our thought awareness will increase the amount of brain capacity that we use huh?

Evelyn - August 18, 2008

Hello Davina, I believe that much our negative beliefs are in our subconscious – the other 90%. Mostly, we are not aware that we are holding on to these beliefs. Their presence explains why we have to struggle so much, despite putting in enormous effort to reach our goals.

In our subconscious, also lie the creative solutions to many of our problems. So if we can use our logical (10%) and subconscious mind (90%), we are operating at 100%. Isn’t it better if we can access both faculties to help us in problem solving? I would say that not making greater use of our subconsious mind is a “crime”, since we are technically blessed with innate resources to help us have a better life.

Love, light and truth,
Evelyn

Robin - August 18, 2008

Hi there Evelyn

I think this is great! I really think these principles are true and very useful.

What more can I say!

Lorraine Cohen - August 18, 2008

Great post Evelyn

So true about the subconscious being more powerful. Healing and making shifts at that level dramatically changes behavior and thoughts. With my personal transformation and work with clients, I find that is a key place folks are still stuck in fear and negative self-sabotage. Understanding how powerfull our thoughts are in creating our reality can be a source of frustration without the ability to go deep enough to release those patterns on an energy level. The good news is that there are several modalities to help!

Blessings,
Lorraine

Evelyn - August 19, 2008

@Robin, thanks for your feedback 🙂

@Lorraine, it’s true that just knowing how thoughts determine our reality is empowering enough. What more about adding modalities! My life has never been the same since applying many of the techniques myself!

Barbara Swafford - August 19, 2008

Hi Evelyn,

It amazes me how powerful our thoughts are. It’s also a great reminder to remain positive and to think pure thoughts. Often I hear people say things like, “I don’t have to look for trouble, it finds me”, and I think, YES, it will. Every time!

John - August 19, 2008

And they (disbelievers, polytheists) worship besides Allâh, that which can neither profit them nor harm them, and the disbeliever is ever a helper (of the Satan) against his Lord. (55) And We have sent you (O Muhammad SAW ) only as a bearer of glad tidings and a warner. (56)
(Chapter 25 : The Criterion : The Noble Quran)

(It will be said): “And O you Mujrimûn (criminals, polytheists, sinners, disbelievers in the Islâmic Monotheism, wicked evil ones)! Get you apart this Day (from the believers). (59) Did I not command for you, O Children of Adam, that you should not worship Shaitân (Satan). Verily, he is a plain enemy to you. (60) And that you should worship Me [Alone — Islâmic Monotheism, and set up not rivals, associate-gods with Me]. That is the Straight Path.[] (61) And indeed he (Satan) did lead astray a great multitude of you. Did you not, then, understand? (62) (Chapter 36 : Yaa Seen)

Irene | Light Beckons - August 19, 2008

Hi Evelyn,

Point #6 is a MUST! A few years ago I came across a meditation technique which involved holding on to a good thought, injecting good feelings to it, then surround it with a pink bubble and release it to the Universe. My wish was granted 2 days later! 🙂

Dr James D Swann - August 19, 2008

Evelyn my dear,
If we only knew how much potential the human mind has, we wouldn’t settle for our present situation for one second. I’m sure your familiar with the saying, “Thoughts become Things!” It is our very thoughts that make the world, both inside and out, what it is today.
I believe 2012 will be an awesome experience for some and a revelation for others and thanks to you and many others it will be a fantastic adventure into a new paradigm of consciousness.
I’m totally amazed and my heart jumps for joy, after reading your profound insights and writings. You’ve come a long way baby! smile
Much Love, Light and Blessings on you, my dear one.
James

Paul - August 19, 2008

Being aware that thoughts are powerful is only the first step. I encourage everyone I meet to learn, grow, and use the technology that is available out there to power their affirmations, to change the way they think and so to change their lives all for the better. It works but only if you use it – so use it!

Cath Lawson - August 19, 2008

Hi Evelyn – I don’t know if it’s just because you’re having a traffic surge, but it’s taken me quite a while to get into your blog.

Like you – I really believe in the power of thought and the ability to influence your subconscious mind with positive thoughts.

What I find really challenging is remembering to use this in a positive way, so that we don’t wind up with the thing we don’t want. For example – telling ourselves we must get out of debt, free tends to attract more debt because we are still focusing on the debt instead of getting rid of it.

Lance - August 19, 2008

I really like “thought is spiritual energy” – I feel like I am really connecting with this recently. And it has been powerful. But I hadn’t really thought about this as being spiritual energy. Now, after reading this, I really do have a better understanding of my thoughts.

The one about the outer world being a mirror of your inner thoughts – that is one I also have been beginning to understand more recently as well. And, the world really is becoming a better place!

This is a great article Evelyn. You’ve really hit upon so many areas of our thoughts, and how powerful they can be.

Evelyn - August 19, 2008

@Barbara, I enjoyed how your point on trouble looking for us. How true!

@Irene, we need more testimonials like yours so that sceptic readers can be inspired that this is not some kind of a hogwash! Thanks for sharing!!

@Dr James, it’s exciting how things are already changing in the run up to 2012. I’m sure glad to be part of it! I wouldn’t want to miss it for the world! Thanks for your lovely feedback once again!

Evelyn - August 19, 2008

@Cath, thanks for highlighting problems in getting onto my site. I’ll have a look into it. Yes….our minds tend to be stuck in old habits. Reframing it to focus on the positives takes constant awareness and training…something that I’m committed into doing.

@Lance, the same phrase “thought is spiritual energy” hit me too. Suddenly, I feel as if I’m not only the creator of my own reality but that I’m also responsible for creating our Mother Earth and the beauty that I see all around. Life becomes more joyful upon this realisation!

Shilpan | successsoul.com - August 19, 2008

This is quite interesting revelation for me. Thoughts are vibrations that our brain creates but I’m intrigued to consider thought as a form of spiritual energy.

Evelyn

This article is a really comprehensive start for anyone who’s interested in learning more about how they can create a better life. I swear by Abraham-Hicks, and my hubby and I have really seen some major improvements in our life by applying their principles.

So many people focus on the notion of positive thinking, but as you have pointed out here it really is so much more than that. If you make yourself think positive, but your heart is full of worry and fear then that is what you are creating. Your feelings are the key.

When I first started monitoring my emotions I noticed that I actually felt very little most of the time. I was empty and generally not present in the moment. This convinced me that I needed to get back into therapy to heal some old wounds. Once I released some deeply held pain I found it so much easier to face life with hope rather than anxiety.

Gratitude and living in the present is an important part of the equation too. If you focus on all that you have, you attract more to feel grateful for.

I’m stumbling this. You’ve done a great job here.

Excellent article with all the major key points of our Creative Thoughts which is part of our Divine Creative ability.

Often what sabotages our creative thoughts are the negative associations we have learned. These are programs we run because we have associated a negative learning to some emotional incident during our lives. To correct this we need to replace these negative associations with new positive learning.

We can do this at a conscious level incident by incident, or a competent Energy Healer can do this, to many of these negative programs all at one time, at the Spiritual Level

I would LOVE to hear about healing without drugs. You should write a post about it!

Marelisa - August 20, 2008

Hi Evelyn: I completely agree that we’re emitting a field–as a result of our thoughts and emotions–that attracts other people and events to us that are vibrating at the same frequency of said field. If you want to know the quality of the field that your emitting at any given moment, just check in with how you’re feeling. Excellent post.

Michael Miles - August 22, 2008

I couldn’t agree more about the power of thought. This idea is the most important discovery I have ever made. Thanks for a great post!

Anita - October 13, 2008

I have found the secret of Manifestation for me in NO 5.
I am glad i found this website. I can now continue sending units of my desired energy to the universe, while having great control of my sponsering thoughts. I am fully confident and I believe it would only be a matter of time when my desires/ thoughts begins to manifest.
