Abundance and the Law of Attraction

Change The Words You Use To Reset A Negative Energy Vibration

Michael Losier, the Canadian National best selling author of “Law of Attraction: The Science of Attracting More of What You Want and Less of What You Don’t”, offers good advice on how to change a negative negative vibration in the video below. He suggests that if you are not getting the things you want, you are probably vibrating it. Hence, you need to reset your vibrations by resetting your thoughts. You reset your thoughts by changing the words that you use.

Words that tend to be negative include Don’t, Not and No. When you use these words, you bring more energectic force into them.

Words that I would like to add to this list are Can’t and Cannot. These words have been ingrained in my mental dictionary since young. “I can’t do this”, “It is too difficult for me”, “I can never be rich or successful” — sounds familiar? For the longest time, these words had immense power over me. I was almost always crippled by them.

Let’s put the past behind. It’s time to focus on what we want – peace, success, happiness, love, abundance, wealth, spritual well being – for the right words to change the stories in our heads. Notice how your world starts getting better, when you become more positive. Mine has already begun to change 🙂

Abundance Is More Than The 5Cs

Many of us think of abundance as having lots of money. In fact, I had also previously used financial income as the sole indicator of success. It is hard not to be in the same rat race as everyone else.

In Singapore, where I come from, the average person probably defines abundance in terms of having the “5 Cs”: Cash, Car, Condominium, Credit Card and Country club membership. The “5 Cs” arose as a popular joke based on certain truths attesting to the unstated Singaporean cultural ethos of materialistic obsession and aspiration. The “5 Cs” are so desired, because they are symbolisms denoting a higher social and economic status and used to impress others.

Cars, Condominiums and Country Club Memberships are expensive in land-scarce Singapore. So much so that most young adults would prefer to either give up or delay having the 6th “C” – child or children.

However, if you have been reading my blog and would know by now, having money alone does not equal to having abundance. Many wealthy people are cash-rich but poor in happiness and security.

If you look at the dictionary, abundance simply means an overflowing fullness; ample sufficiency; great plenty; profusion; copious supply; superfluity; wealth. It is also referred to as a lack of scarcity, and therefore, want.

Hence, going by this definition, abundance can also encompass better relationships, financial success, superior health or just about anything you desire to have in plentiful supply. Abundance is a state of overflowing with more than what is needed. It is also the state of aligning to our inner core.

With this in mind, I had recently decided to ditch the C that I had been dreaming of: a $1,200 Chanel clutch bag. To me, abundance is no longer so much a matter of the gaining the said Cs. It is also gaining in health, fulfillment, happiness and love.

Gain Ideas And Inspiration From Your Creative Mind

Do you find that your best ideas always come from “out of nowhere”?

Well, the good news is that it need not be a case of mere coincidence that you get struck by a bright idea.

Napoleon Hill, the best-selling author of “Think and Grow Rich” believed that the human mind was capable of tapping into universal fields of intelligence to access ideas and inspiration.

Napoleon Hill observed that….

The great artists, writers, musicians and poets became great because they acquire the habit of relying upon the still, small voice that speaks from within, through the faculty of creative imagination. It is a fact well known to people who have keen imaginations that their best ideas come through so-called “hunches”.

Napolean Hill shared about how one inventor from Maryland, the late Dr. Elmer R. Gates, came up with over 200 patents. Gates would sit in his soundproof laboratory holding a pad of writing paper and shut off the lights. In the dark, he would ponder on the known factors of the invention on which he was working for hours. He remained in the same position until ideas began to “flash” into his mind.

On one occasion, ideas came so fast to Gates that he was forced to write for almost three hours. When the thoughts stopped flowing, he proceeded to examine what he has written. He realised that they contained a minute description of principles, with no parallel among the known data of the scientific world. What was amazing was that the answer to his problem was intelligently presented in those notes.

Naaaaahhh? Don’t believe? Think that he is an exception?

Let me quote you another two examples.

The greatest inventor of our time, Thomas Alva Edison, used a similar technique and he apparantly did it through sleeping. Edison was awarded 1368 distinct patents and invented, the incandescent light bulb, the phonograph, the film projector, and the first motion picture. Edison had a secret – he would always take frequent naps in the middle of the day. Edison was known to have said, “Ideas come from space. Well, it is likely that he came up with several ideas while at the alpha state.

Then, there is Richard Bach, the author to the best selling book, Jonathan Livingston Seagull. He revealed in an interview in 1972, that he wrote two-thirds of the book in a dream-like state.

And there are plenty more testimonials provided by graduates from The Silva Method. In the Silva Method program, you are also taught how to use dreams to get answers to the problem that you are seeking for. At the alpha and theta level, you are tapping into sources of knowledge not available at the waking level. Ideas won’t just be coming to you by mere coincidences but because you programmed for them.

Knowing that the answers can possibly come from within has been a helpful insight to me. Previously, I have always tried to analyse problems logically. However, there have been times when I got frustrated because I could not come up with something viable. I would then try my best to force out a solution and hope for the best.

I am no genius yet – unlike Thomas Edison, Dr Gates or Richard Bach. However, through their examples, I have learnt that there is another way of getting ideas and inspiration and definitely a far better one. I learnt now that it is best not to hold on too tightly to a problem. The best ideas come from the creative or subconscious mind, which I am learning to tap more from.

I’m also hoping to teach these concepts to my kids. Min, in particular, has been producing beautiful art work. It is highly apparent that she is creative. I hope to be able to teach her to access her creative mind not just for doing art but for a whole range of practical life issues.

Blocks To The Law Of Attraction: Worry

Worry is a stream of negative thinking I know very well because I had lived with it all my life. Until recently, I did not realize that the presence of worry is not helpful for the Law of Attraction to work positively. After becoming more aware about my mental suffering from excessive worry, I observed that many of my friends suffering from the same. Worry can be over anything from health to money and at every stage of our lives.

I had worried about almost every little thing previously. I worried about how I would fare in my exams, when I was in school. Then, I worried about my career prospects, when I started working. I worried about not being able to find the person with whom I could share my life with, when I was single. When I got married and had kids, I started worrying about and for them. I also worried whether I would have enough funds to send my kids abroad for studies. I worried about not having enough money to retire.

My mind had chosen to ignore the fact I was already blessed in many ways but was constantly focused on what I did not have. The central theme running through most of my thoughts was worry about not going to have enough. I was undeniably miserable with having negative thoughts. My constant worries easily caused me plenty of sleepless nights many times before.

Does my life story sound familiar to yours?

Although you may argue that it is human nature to worry, you do not have to live in this state either. A good news to share is that you can do something about it.

An untrained mind tends to be preoccupied with thoughts of worry and it is important to realize that you can train it for more positivity. If you want the Law of Attraction to work in your favor, then you have to control what is going on inside your mind.

When you dwell too much on worry, you are in fact not confident that The Universe will give you what you want. You suspect that you may not get all that you seek. Worry is a negative thought. The Universe “hears” what you are saying. You put yourself in the position of attracting negative energy. This is the Law Of Attraction. You have to be aware that your thoughts can be brought into physical reality and come to past.

Hence, spend time training your mind to focus on the positive. Better yet, when it is focused on being in the present, it will invariably be blissful.

The secret of happy and successful living lies in doing what can be done now. You cannot go back into the past to undo the things you have done; neither can you anticipate everything that may happen as conditions are always in a flux and ever changing. This reminds me of a saying that I came to know when I started work at Citibank some years ago “Change is always constant”.

Kalidasa, a great Indian poet and playwright, wrote the following lines in Sanskrit on the truth of living in the present…

For yesterday is but a dream;
And tomorrow only a vision;
But today, well-lived, makes every yesterday
A dream of happiness,
And every tomorrow
A vision of hope and joy.
Look well then to this day.

You only have control over the time that is “in the present”. You have the power to build something today, as yesterday is past and tomorrow is dependent on what you do now. The ability to change your future lies in “what is” and can be exercised this current moment.

Additionally, when your mind is fully in the present, can you make clear decisions that will impact tomorrow. Beyond the shadow of doubt, a mind which is present is at peace.
At peace, the mind has no space for worry.

Gratitude For The Law Of Attraction To Work

Gratitude is an energy for The Law Of Attraction to work in your favour. When we are appreciative, we are sending out positive energy vibrations that we already have all that we need to have. When The Universe knows this, it will send you more of the same, bringing your manifestations into physical reality.

You may find it hard to feel gratitude rightaway. Teachers of The Law of Attraction suggest that you start by focusing on “what is”. Here is an interesting story that I just came across…

One of his students asked Buddha, “Are you the messiah?”
“No”, answered Buddha.
“Then are you a healer?”
“No”, Buddha replied.
“Then are you a teacher?” the student persisted.
“No, I am not a teacher.”
“Then what are you?” asked the student, exasperated.
“I am awake”, Buddha replied.

What this story is telling us is that The Buddha has merely stated what he knew to be true, a “what is”. We often forget “what is” at a particular moment. Often, we get mired in guilt (which relates to the past) and worry (which relates to the future). Guilt and worry are two emotions that occupy much of our mind almost every instant. They spring from thoughts of not having done enough (relating to the past) and insecurity about whether there will ever be enough (relating to the future). We forget that at this current moment, we are already abundant. We forget that we have much to be grateful right now. We forget that there are people with less material wealth than us.

So if you want to generate the feeling of gratitude in order for the Law Of Attraction to work better, then here are 3 things you can do today:

1. Make a list of things that you feel appreciative of. You can start with by simply being grateful that you are well, have a roof over your head and food on the table.

2. Spend time with your family and connect with the feelings of love and joy.

3. Help someone less fortunate than yourself. It can be a small act of kindness but doing this can make you feel good about yourself and how lucky you are in the position to be of help.

Here’s a summary of how to use the Law of Attraction. You cannot wish away negative emotions rightaway. It just does not happen overnight. However, whenever you start to feel guilty, worry or any negative emotions, use EFT tapping to get rid of them. Then, reframe with positive thoughts, words and affirmations. Do these on a daily basis. The more you practise, the better you become. If you send out a net positive energy to The Universe, you will be manifesting net positive outcomes in your life.

An untrained mind gravitates easily to negative thoughts. If you are serious about manifesting positive outcomes, spend time learning how to focus your thoughts.

Goal Setting With The Law Of Detachment

Goal Setting PictureI have been receiving a couple of emails from subscriptions to various newsletters about goal setting. All of them talked about the importance of goal setting, something which I feel is also key before the start of a new year. However, in my opinion, goal setting should not be just an exercise activity to get some direction but should also be done in consideration with The Law Of Detachment.

The Law of Detachment says that for us to acquire anything in the physical universe, we need to relinquish our attachment to it. This however does not mean that we give up our intention to create desires. We do not give up our intent, nor do we give up desire. We just give up attachment to the outcome.

As soon as we give up this attachment, our intent, together with concentrated focus, can be brought into physical reality; that is, come to past. When we are attached, we become fearful and insecure. This usually happens when we have no or little understanding about our Self. Our Self is the source of wealth. It knows how to fulfill every need. Our Self is all knowing; having the power to create whatever we want.

Yet, many of us hanker for great financial abundance. When we manifest, we attached a monetary value to our desires. We think we will be happy when we have reached a million dollars or a 5-figure income. And hence, we make a goal to achieve “X” amount of dollars. However, money, designer clothes, big house, fast cars are all symbols. When we hanker for these, we are desiring the symbols but truly, we have exchanged our Self for them.

You become disenchanted when you have put in the effort and still, your material goals do not materialize. You get anxious and become attached to the outcome. You wonder if your dreams are ever going to come true. You start to give ourselves excuses about why you are not hitting our goals. These thoughts are negative energy vibrations. The Law Of Attraction kicks in here. The Universe obeys and reciprocates with negative vibrations, making them true for you: you never get to attain your goals.

Attachment is poverty consciousness. You focus on the lack. We place value to symbols. On the other hand, detachment is wealth consciousness. You have the freedom and creativity to create. At the same time, you still know that The Universe will give you what you want. So there is no need for anxiety.

To give up security, is also to live in uncertainty. You allow yourself the opportunity to experience adventure, excitement and mystery. You no longer walk on the path of the tried and tested. But you demonstrate a willingness to go out of your comfort zone. Think about all the various success stories and you will find that most successful millionaires have stuck to their vision, despite having to live through periods of uncertainty.

Obeying The Law Of Detachment does not mean that you do not do goal setting. You still set goals because you have a clear intent of your direction. But how you get from point A to point B is open to huge possibilities. You do not restrict what can happen in order for you to reach your destination. You also do not force solutions to problems. This helps you to keep your ears and eyes open to opportunities that may just come and go in an instant.

So this is where I am right now. On the threshhold of uncertainty.

Flashback…I have worked very hard in the last few years, striving for the goal of an online income. The web is awashed with make money quick opportunities. I do not deny having been attracted to the many bright shiny objects that flickered but for a second. Goal setting to me usually involved a financial target. I would be elated if I hit my goals but my emotions will come crashing if I don’t. In short, I became attached to the outcome of my goals. Hardly a fun way to live life!

I have decided to do it differently this time. Year 2008 is about to begin and it is time for some new goal setting. I acknowledge that I find it hard to give up old habits of holding on tightly to my dreams and goals. I will still write out my list of intents but I will choose not to be dictated by a strict path. With these new thoughts, I do not deny that I have been feeling pretty uncomfortable with the lack of certainty. But hopefully, I will grow accustomed to this unsettled feeling and hence allowing the richness of life and infinite possibilities unfold before me.

“Each one of us requires the spur of insecurity to force us to do our best.” — Harold W. Dodds

Are Money Blocks Hindering Your Path To Wealth?

Have you wondered why you have not earned a single dollar or made any sales online, despite putting in the hours and following what the gurus say diligently? It can be frustrating, isn’t it?

You have read how easy it is to earn a phenomenal amount of money or some obscure bloke going from zero to hero online. You bought every conceivable programs or software that promises to help you generate tons of money, hoping that any one of these may just be the “missing” link to your success.  You wait for the avalanche of traffic to happen or the traffic to convert.

And you waited. And waited. And waited.

At first, you saw the trickle of traffic and you jumped for joy.  But soon, you realise that the trickle is hardly converting nor has there been truckloads of traffic, as promised. You can barely cover your costs, as the months roll by. Generating money online remains an elusive dream to you. You cannot even smell the “one dollar” in your hands. You wonder if you should just give up.

Perhaps too, it has been the same experience with other money-generating programs that you have signed up to. Previously, it may have been options trading. Or real estate investing. Or an mlm program. Each time, you swore that you’ve found THE program that is going to make you rich or found THE idea that will turn you into an overnight millionaire. And unfortunately, each time, you are sadly disappointed.  All the enthusiasm that you initially had soon fizzled out in a whiff of smoke!

Well, I’ve been there. Many times over.  Setback after setback.

I spent time trying to find out what went wrong and what were the lessons learnt. Until I realise this important point: Success ain’t gonna come if I do not first clear my money blocks.

These are some of the money blocks I used to have:

1) Money does not come easily to me.

2) I do not deserve to be rich.

3) Money is the root of all “evils”.

4) It is hard to make more money than what I spend.

5) I cannot handle or manage money well.

It was only when I managed to feel comfortable with money and resolve many of my money blocks, did I experience a turnaround in my business.

I dare propose that unless you are a guru or are already rich and successful, you (like most of us) would have some kind of money blocks. Hence, if you are still keen on achieving success online, it is likely that it is not another internet marketing strategy or software being the “missing” link” but it may simply be that you have to clear your money blocks.

Here’s one great way that you can clear your money blocks!

A List Of Feel Goods

Today is thanksgiving day. Although it is not a traditional celebration for my family and from where I come from, I’m making use of the opportunity to say my thoughts of appreciation of what I am grateful for.

I’ve learned that a sense of gratitude is important to generate positive energy.

So here is the top 10 list of what I’m appreciative for:

1) I am thankful for the family that I have; a loving husband, my two beautiful kids and my caring parents.

2.) I am thankful for the roof over my head and the food that I get to eat everyday.

3.) I am thankful that I am able and well; without which I wouldn’t be able to do half the things I would like to accomplish in my lifetime.

4.) I am thankful for the many experiences that I have that makes me realise how resourceful I am.

5.) I am thankful that I have learned about times when I do not feel particularly confident or secure, that I do the best I can.

6.) I am thankful to learn that it is okay to make mistakes but that I should learn from them.

7.) I am thankful to learn that I should stop comparing against others but to measure progress relative to where I come from every step of the way.

8.) I am thankful that I have learned to perceive high standards as inspirational goals rather than as pressure to perform.

9.) I am thankful that I have learned my kids do not need a supermom but just to be fully present in their lives.

10.) I am thankful I have learned that life is a journey and that I continue to grow spiritually and emotionally in every way.

If you have been wondering how to turn your negative thoughts into positive one, being thankful for what you already have is a good place to start. Hopefully this will trigger good feelings about your family, friends and love ones. You are training your mind to focus on the positives, rather than the negatives.

Make use of thanksgiving today to write down a list of at least 10 things that you are grateful for! Do share on this blog as writing them down is also an affirmation to yourself about your sense of appreciation. Feel good and you will start to attract positive energy.

Dealing With Childhood Imprints

This follows my previous post about my own experience in forming conclusions at the subconscious level as a child.

Children respond to comments by their parents, school teachers, guardian or any authority figure in different ways. A parent may chide a child “you are so stupid” when the child is slow at grasping some school work. The intent may be to motivate him to work harder. A confident child may well respond in the required manner and spur on to do better. However, in many cases, a child who is insecure may internalise and accept it as a true statement, although he may actually be intelligent. This childhood imprint can have negative effects in viewing the self as incapable, unworthy and doomed to meet with failure.

Childhood imprints have to be dealt with, in order for the law of attraction to work. The problem is that we would not know what childhood imprints we have. We reap its negative consequences however. We are insecure, unloving, angry, indecisive, etc etc. The negative traits can well be traced back to some childhood imprint; which until today, we may not have realized that we had made a certain conclusion at the back of our minds way back when we were say 3 years old.

Additionally, because of my personal experience, having lived with some of my most bizarre childhood imprints for more than 30 years and dealing with them now, I become more aware of what I say to my own children. I certainly would not want them to form conclusions that are hardly true due to some careless remark that I make. I wouldn’t want to repeat some of the same mistakes my parents have made in my formative years. Understanding more about childhood imprints means that I can be a more responsible parent in the emotional development of my children. Since I am not perfect and may occasionally say the wrong thing without thinking, I know that at the very least, I have the tools to help my children reverse their negative thinking. Hopefully, the law of attraction will work well for them much earlier in their lives.
