10 Fears Related to Leaving the Security of a Job

“Fear can be good when you’re walking past an alley at night or when you need to check the locks on your doors before you go to bed, but it’s not good when you have a goal and you’re fearful of obstacles. We often get trapped by our fears, but anyone who has had success has failed before.” Queen Latifah

Through my conversations with others, I find that most people share the similar dream of being able to leave the security of a regular paycheck, so that they can build a business or do work that they love. Yet, the thought of going into something that seemed unstable look scary. Even as fear keeps them stuck, they experience a lack of fulfillment in their job increasingly.

If the above scenario is what you are going through, read on.

It will be far too easy to paint the picture of running an online marketing business as a bed of roses. However, I will not be telling the truth. Far too many people are sold the dream of a beach lifestyle while running an online business by internet marketers hoping to push their “get-rich-quick” schemes.

Let us face the facts. There can be a lot of work that goes behind having a website – social media marketing, customer service, blogging, responding to emails, giving interviews, product creation, launch promotions and so on. You may be on the beachfront but if you are just starting out and working alone, you will be busy working at least for the first year or even three years of your business.

Also, be aware that the business model adopted by some of these marketers may not be suitable for your circumstances. For these marketers, it may be easy to uproot and live on some exotic beach while doing online marketing. If you have family considerations, it could be much harder to make such a move.

Some friends have asked me about promoting their services as energy healers and/or life coaches online. My answer is why not? I have been getting clients for my intuitive readings and clearing work for the past few years. Don’t let the fear of creating websites and using technology stop you. Hire someone to help you in these areas, if needed.

Understandably, it is risk that you are taking – stepping from the known to the unknown. Having a regular paycheck appears to be safe. You know that there is income coming every month to pay for your monthly expenses. Hence, the fear of stepping into the unknown world of starting your own business or going for a new second career where there is no certainty in how much you are going to make can be a huge one.

However, as Hellen Keller said, life is a daring adventure or nothing at all.

If you want your circumstances to change, then not doing anything is just going to produce the same results.

For a start, it is important to deal with the fear that you are facing. If you don’t, you will just remain paralyzed or even if you start to make the transition, these could obstruct you.

What the 10 Fears of Making a Work Transition Are

Your fears are related to your concern that you may fail in your endeavour. They may include the following:

* Fear of Change

* Fear of the Unknown

* Fear of Business Failure

* Fear of Ridicule

* Fear of Not Being Able To Thrive Well

* Fear of Technology (with online business)

* Fear of Not Having Capable Enough

* Fear of Being Too Old

* Fear of Not Enough Resources

* Fear of Needing to Work Harder and Being Overwhelmed.

Remove Your Fear

“Fear stifles our thinking and actions. It creates indecisiveness that results in stagnation. I have known talented people who procrastinate indefinitely rather than risk failure. Lost opportunities cause erosion of confidence, and the downward spiral begins.” Charles Stanley

Expect to experience fear and doubt. If these become daunting, address these first. You want to have the greatest chances of success. So don’t let fear be bigger than your dreams.

You could also have a program of limiting beliefs that play repeated themes. The program is likely to be rooted in the past. Make it a point to find out what this is about and do some energy clearing around your fear. The more specific you can get about the trigger situation, the more targeted your healing can be.

I used Emotional Freedom Technique or EFT to support my journey as an entrepreneur. It is a great way to reduce your fear of leaving the security of a regular paycheck. It is also an excellent tool for attracting clients and make more sales. Thus, you are much better able to leverage on the Law of Attraction to bring forward your dreams.
