How Decisive Action Overcomes Paralysis in a Stuck Situation

“Being stuck is a position few of us like. We want something new but cannot let go of the old – old ideas, beliefs, habits, even thoughts. We are out of contact with our own genius. Sometimes we know we are stuck; sometimes we don’t. In both cases we have to DO something.” Rush Limbaugh

stuck

I have noticed that a lot of us make decisions from where we currently are – which happens to be the “stuck” position. In which case, we are making the decision from a place of fear. So we end up saying “no” or procrastinating on the one decision that can help us unstuck ourselves.

Even more so when it comes to a decision on investing in inner or healing work. We are reluctant to commit to working internally. We feel paralysed with fear. Even though we realise that it could be helpful, we are averse to the idea of bringing our repressed emotions into the open. Not surprisingly, we usually view spending in any form of inner healing/transformation as unnecessary expense.

Unfortunately, this way of thinking qualifies as poverty consciousness. If we are feeling the lack, we will continue to stay in limitation because we are not willing to take the action that can potentially bring us to the next level of growth. Paralysis imprisons and prevents us from being great!

In other words, if we make a decision from where we are currently at, we are going to remain stuck. Unless we start to do things differently, we are going to manifest the same results. Of course, we can choose to do things differently ourselves or we can choose to do things differently with the assistance from a guide, coach or mentor. The difference is that if we choose the latter, we are likely to show up with greater commitment, discipline and focus; thus experiencing visible transformational results.

Leap with Some Help

More than a year ago, I was at a crossroads. I had reached some kind of glass ceiling. I had to make the decision on whether to continue as things have been or take a leap of faith, step up and commit to more.

There is a lot of free advice on the internet, these are easy to obtain. I have been subscribing to free stuff for years. The free stuff together with other paid programs have already taken me to my current position. However, I had reached a point where I was tired about moving in circles and not going anywhere. I needed more. To move ahead, what I needed was personal guidance, a mentor who could guide me step-by-step along the way and who would hold me accountable.

Eventually, I found the program that I thought would help. However, it was way beyond my budget. At first, I was rather nervous about making a decision that seemed huge. And so, I tried to look for cheaper alternatives. Unfortunately, these options did not appear to sufficiently address my concerns. Based on my research, I could not find another similar mentorship program. You see, there were many coaches but I did not want just any coach, I wanted someone who shared the same philosophy and conscious business ideas.

I finally made the decision from where I wanted to be. The pain of being stuck was just too great for me. I chose to take action rather than stay put.

Well, my life changed overnight.

As a result of the program, I was challenged to be bigger, bolder and better. I had to meet my gremlin several times in the process. It surfaced a lot of my doubts. The great news is that I have grown so much ever since. And it all started because in spite of what my gremlin said, I took action.

Access the Power Within You

There is power when decisive action takes the place of doubt.

You probably already know it yourself: the knowing that you can be great.

You only need to make that first decision to say “yes”.

A decision that comes from a place of deep knowing, where you leap out of mediocrity and into a paradigm of possibility.

You eliminate crippling doubt by embracing action.

No longer allow indecision to paralyze you into keeping yourself stuck.

All in, take my advice: make the choice from where you want to be, rather than where you are at currently. By making the decision from where you want to be, you unlock your potential. You start to experience the shift that will bring you to the next level of growth.

“If you want to take your mission in life to the next level, if you’re stuck and you don’t know how to rise, don’t look outside yourself. Look inside. Don’t let your fears keep you mired in the crowd. Abolish your fears and raise your commitment level to the point of no return, and I guarantee you that the Champion Within will burst forth to propel you toward victory.” Bruce Jenner

It’s so true Evelyn that we move forward and it’s great and then there’s this gap. And the next growth spurt is calling us. By moving into it in our imagination, seeing our next level of greatness, all the action steps necessary start to show up. It’s the amazing abundance of our Universe, holding everything we need right in front of us. All we need do is open our eyes. 🙂

Hello Elle,

I see the gap. I also see the fear. It is written in the faces of those who are too afraid to step forward.

And yes, I like what you said about “moving into it in our imagination.” Without engaging our imagination, we will not be able to see the possibility. The “how” will only show up when we start saying yes to our dreams!

Evelyn

Take action from the point of where you want to be. It is an excellent advice. We get scared when we want to do something new. We ask what if I fail and lose whatever I have now? You are looking for new adventures and new ways forward because you aren’t happy with where you are now. Ask yourself; is this all I can be or am I much more than this?

I like the second advice as well. If you need help in moving forward in your life find help; find a coach, join groups or ask help from people you see as your mentors. You don’t need to struggle all alone or rediscover everything from the beginning.

Hi TC,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I like your suggestion of asking yourself questions for reflection. We can be more if we only allow ourselves to believe it.

It seems that many of us are conditioned to struggle. I like what you said about not struggling alone. We sure can do with some help and guidance if we get stuck 🙂

Hi, that was a very enlightening post. “We really have to take action rather than stay put”, very well said, and I will keep this words in mind, asking for help is something we should all consider in order to gain good results. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Sherill,

Many of us have trouble with asking for help. Even I do, in my unaware state.

Yet, it is very okay to say “I don’t know and I am stuck.” Now, who has never been stuck? Who has everything all figured out?

Evelyn
